This tiny creature was on the front step this morning. I tried feeding it honey but it didn't seem as if it would recover. It was still just alive at this point but I think its time is up. I put it back in the garden after recording it for posterity. Sigma 105mm macro with 36mm extension tube plus an Amaran Halo ring light. Six photos stacked using CombineZP.

Just trying out my aputure amaran halo led ring flash. Not a bad little ring flash works pretty well allows you to get really close with some directional light , might come in handy.
This was taken with my 24-105 with a set of extension tubes and the ring flash. Very difficult to get focus pin sharp hand held with this extremely shallow DOF.
Yesterday I finally managed to finish setting up my workstation a.k.a. Mein Sorgenkind (my problem child). Oh, and it renders and stacks very quickly! :-)

I'm not really happy with my first attempt. I decided to get closer and emphasize the details and textures of the stone.

Die Verpackung versprach ein interessantes Fotomotiv. Allerdings hat sich die Füllung zu einer braunen Masse vereint. Diese war dann nicht mehr so fotogen, aber geschmacklich ganz in Ordnung.
Wer will, darf jetzt am Bildschirm/Display lecken. ;-)

Extreme macro of the lower side of a fern leaf (Microsorium sp., Polypodiaceae). Shows the epidermis cribbled with stomates (for respiration) and a sorus (for reproduction). The latter is composed of densely clustered, still immature, pale-green sporangia. Once mature these will become brownish and produce spores.
Studio work based on 120 exposures, assembled in Zerene Stacker (Dmap & Pmax). Canon 5Dmkii, Canon FD bellows, Rodenstock Apo-Gerogon 240/9, Mitutoyo planapo 10x, ISO-100, -0.3step, 1/6sec, daylight led on the right, diffused with tracing paper. Image 2.5mm wide (magnification 14.4x on ff).

"Early varieties were described in a 1904 nurseryman's catalogue as having "...edible fruits the size of walnuts, and the flavor of ripe gooseberries", and Europeans called it Chinese gooseberry. In 1959 it was exported under the name "melonette". In 1962, New Zealand growers began calling it "kiwifruit" for export marketing, a name becoming commercially adopted in 1974. A California-based importer named Frieda Caplan subsequently used that name when introducing the fruit to the American market. The word kiwifruit and the shortened kiwi, have been used since around 1966, when the fruit was first imported from New Zealand to the United States. Kiwifruit has since become a common name for all commercially grown fruit from the genus Actinidia. In New Zealand, the shortened word, "kiwi", is seldom used to refer to the fruit, as it usually refers to the kiwi bird or the Kiwi people."

A bit an unusual image for my stream .... but got my hands on an old timepiece and found it a good subject for a macro.
