Chevening Alumni of Malaysia (CAM) recently initiated the Corporate Leadership Dialogue Series aimed at bringing highly prominent and successful CEOs in corporate Malaysia for dialogues on current business topics with Chevening alumni members and the general public. Inaugurating this dialogue series was our very own Chevening alumnus, Y. Bhg Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak (Chairman of the CIMB Group) who spoke on the topic “A Malaysian in the ASEAN Economic Community”. The event also launched the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Chevening Scholarship Programme in Malaysia.
Held at the Auditorium of the Securities Commission on 26 June 2014, the leadership dialogue was attended by more than 200 guests comprising Chevening alumni, members of other UK alumni organisations, business professionals, university students and the general public. Deputy Head of Mission of the British High Commission, H.E. Ray Kyles and Deputy British High Commissioner H.E. Paul Rennie were also present as special guests.
Speaking at the dialogue, Dato’ Sri Nazir shared with the audience his personal experience in working with other ASEAN business leaders and stakeholders in steering the block towards achieving the AEC agenda by December 2015. The audience then engaged with him in a lively question and answer session where they not only asked questions on the AEC but also used this opportunity to provide their views on what they expected as ASEAN citizens from an ASEAN economic bloc such as the AEC. To make the forum more engaging, CAM ran a poll among the audience just before the dialogue on ASEAN and the AEC. Results of the poll were flashed during the Q&A session.
CAM will continue to hold these dialogues with other prominent CEOs and business leaders.
