You all know lupines in my garden already from the photos with the raindrops on their leafs. Off course I don't want to keep the beautiful flowers back from You. I did walk around them quite often already, trying to find a way to give them the right attention. Mostly I didn't had an idea and if I had one, I didn't like the result. Until the setting sun was helping me out a lot.
Ihr alle kennt die Lupinen in meinem Garten bereits von den Bildern mit den Regentropfen auf ihren Blättern. Natürlich möchte ich Euch auch die wunderschönen Blüten nicht vorenhalten. Schon oft bin ich um sie herum gelaufen und habe mir überlegt, wie ich sie wohl am besten in Szene setzen könnte. Meißt ist mir nicht viel eingefallen und was mir eingefallen ist hat mich nicht gefallen. Bis die untergehende Sonne, mir mächtig unter die Arme gegriffen hat.

Ich stand früh zum Sonnenaufgang auf dem Kleinhennersdorfer Stein. Man sieht links die Kaiserkrone, daneben den Zirkelstein und im Nebel dahinter den Rosenberg.
I stood on the Kleinhennersdorfer Stein early at sunrise. You can see the Kaiserkrone (hill) on the left, next to it the Zirkelstein (hill) and in the fog behind it the Rosenberg (hill).

Sächsische Schweiz (Elbsandsteingebirge)

Als Sächsische Schweiz wird der deutsche Teil des Elbsandsteingebirges in Sachsen bezeichnet. Die durch bizarre Felsformen geprägte Landschaft liegt südöstlich von Dresden beiderseits der Elbe im Landkreis Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge.
Bergformen
In der Regel sind zwei Bergformen zu unterscheiden. Als Steine werden zahlreiche Felsformationen des Elbsandsteingebirges in der Böhmischen und Sächsischen Schweiz bezeichnet. Prominente Beispiele sind der Königstein, der Lilienstein, Gohrisch und Papststein. Die Bezeichnung erstreckt sich nicht auf die hügelartigen Kuppen aus vulkanischem Basalt oder granitischem Material des Grundgebirges wie die Waitzdorfer Höhe oder den Großen Winterberg.
Die kretazischen Sandsteingebilde ragen aus den sogenannten Ebenheiten heraus, dem ehemaligen Niveau der Elbe, und stellen ihrerseits Reste einer früheren Rumpffläche dar. Im Zuge der spättertiären Anhebung des Erzgebirges und des seitlichen Druckes vom Lausitzer Bergland zerbrach die Sandsteinplatte kreuzgitterartig, was bei gleichzeitig zunehmender Fließgeschwindigkeit der Elbe und rückschreitender Erosion in den Seitentälern Angriffsmöglichkeiten und Leitbahnen für die zerstörerische Kraft des Wassers bot. Zunächst verblieben die größeren Tafelberge (Lilienstein), oder bereits stark zerklüftete wie Zirkelstein oder Kaiserkrone, oder aber bereits bewaldete (Kohlbornstein), die sich bei weiterer erosiver Zerstörung in langgezogene Grate (Schrammsteine) bis hin zu einzelnen Felsnadeln (Torwächter) auflösten. Morphologisch härtere Schichtpartien, die der Erosion länger und erfolgreicher Widerstand leisten, bilden meist die oberste Schicht. Der Zusammenbruch erfolgt somit meist von unten her bzw. von den Felsflanken.

Saxon Switzerland (German: Sächsische Schweiz) is a hilly climbing area and national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic it forms the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
Saxon Switzerland alone has some 1,000 climbing peaks, as well as several hollows. The area is popular with local and international climbers.
The administrative district for the area is Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. The fortress of Königstein is a well-known landmark.
Hills
As a rule, two types of hill may be distinguished.
Numerous rock formations in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, in both Saxon Switzerland and Bohemian Switzerland, are known locally in this region as Steine ("rocks"). Prominent examples are the Königstein, the Lilienstein, the Gohrisch and the Papststein. This description does not, however, include the dome-shaped Kuppen such as the Waitzdorfer Höhe or the Großer Winterberg, whose bedrock is made of volcanic basalt or granitic material.
The Cretaceous sandstone formations soar above the so-called "levels" of their surrounding area, the former level of the River Elbe, and represent the remains of an old peneplain. In the course of the Late Tertiary, uplifting of the Ore Mountains and sideways pressure from the Lusatian Highlands shattered the sandstone plate along lines that intersected like a grid and this, combined with the simultaneously increasing stream velocity of the Elbe and regressive erosion in its side valleys, offered new lines of attack and new routes for the destructive power of water. Initially the larger table hills (Lilienstein), or those already deeply fissured like Zirkelstein, Kaiserkrone or already forested (Kohlbornstein), remained, but these too broke up later as a result of erosive destruction into long ridges (Schrammsteine) or even into individual rock pinnacles (Torwächter). Morphologically harder sections of strata, that resisted karstification longer and more successfully, generally form the uppermost layers. The collapse of rock structures is usually therefore a result of erosion from below or from the flanks.
I spotted this beautifully curving rock pool quite late on when the sunset had already developed, but I had a great few minutes trying to use it! Rivers and roads by the Head and the Heart seems fine, either in the pool or on the sides!!!
Now, as I have already started with saying goodbye, I will simply go on with that and show some of the left behind photos from my trip to Portugal.
I'm starting with lisbon and to be more precise with one of the two famous bridges of the city and to be even more precise with the Ponte 25 de Abril.
What I did like at this view was, that every corner of this photograph has got it’s own picture, separated and united at the same time by the silhouette of the bridge.

Ich beginne mit Lissabon und genauer mit einer der beiden berühmten Brücken der Stadt und noch genauer mit der Ponte 25 de Abril.
Was mir an diesem Anblick so gefallen hat ist, dass sich in jeder der vier Ecken ein eigenes Bild verbirgt, getrennt und gleichzeitig verbunden durch die Silhouette der Brücke.

This image is a true oldie, it has been sleeping on my hard drive for almost exactly five years. Now that it's only a few days until Christmas, it "woke up" and demanded its place in the Flickr limelight, because even though it doesn't look particularly Christmassy (it had been pretty mild on that day, something like 12 °C), it is a Christmas image, because I've captured it on Christmas Eve 2016 from aboard a small cruising ship on our way to Vienna. There even is some cloud pareidolia to be found here, I see a weird duck and a (very human-like) eye looking upwards ;)
In post I've jazzed up the (very pastel) colours a little and did some subtle denoising, that's all. I don't know whether I will also take a special Christmas image this year, probably not. So I wish you all Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas already now. I wish you relaxed, happy days, stay safe and healthy, and take care! I'll be back for Macro Mondays' "Redux" in a week :)
Dieses Foto ist ein echter Oldie – und ein echtes Weihnachtsbild, auch wenn es nicht so aussieht. Aufgenommen habe ich das Foto (mit dem manuellen "Altglas" OM Zuiko Auto-S 50mm F/1.4) am 24.12.2016 zu Beginn einer Flusskreuzfahrt (meiner ersten und sehr wahrscheinlich auch letzten, Kreuzfahrten sind, glaube ich, nicht so meins) auf der Donau (laut Flickr in "Nideristaraich"). Es war sehr mild gewesen, so um die 12 °C, weshalb es auch keinen Schnee gab. Dafür hatten wir zum Heiligabend mal keine dichte Wolkendecke gehabt (wie sonst die gesamte Fahrt über), sondern diesen entspannten, stimmungsvollen Sonnenuntergang, bei dem es sogar ein wenig Wolkenpareidolie zu sehen gibt: Ich sehe hier eine etwas seltsame Ente und ein ziemlich menschlich aussehendes Auge, das nach oben blickt ;)
Bearbeitungstechnisch habe ich lediglich die Farben aufgepeppt und das Foto dezent entrauscht. Vermutlich ist dies auch schon mein Weihnachtsfoto für dieses Jahr, ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich noch ein extra Foto machen werde. Wir sehen uns aber auf jeden Fall nächsten Montag beim "Redux"-Thema für Macro Mondays wieder ;) In diesem Sinne: Habt trotz der angespannten Lage schöne, entspannte, friedvolle Weihnachten, passt weiter gut auf Euch auf und bleibt gesund :)
Most of you already know, that I like macro a lot and most of the time I want to push the limits to get as close as possible with my camera. So I did with the frozen puddle of water and this is the result. I see al kind of faces, you too?

An active thunderstom over Louisville CO shows off its inner glow with multiple cloud to cloud lightning strikes. An airplane flying towards the storm makes a turn away as indicated by the the line of double dots in the lower left quadrant. The orange-y glow in the sky is from the lights of Denver to the right.
Thunderstorms have been abundant thus far in eastern Colorado, even before the arrival of the t-storm season associated with the summer monsoon. Precipitation is already around 80% of the annual average with half the year to go.
Maybe eggs in the nest for this couple of Great Egrets in the rookery at Resoft County Park, Alvin, Texas.

This morning I was late to the dining room, everybody from my party were already seated when I arrived. I was ushered to a table at the far end of the dining room. I asked to be seated with my party, but this was not possible, I had to sit at the allocated table. Foolishly I pressed my argument, then it dawned on me, I was in some Chinese version of Fawlty Towers and this woman was Manuel in drag. It was pointless to argue.
The toaster worked, they provided soup bowls for the toast, a novel innovation I thought. The bacon was real and the eggs almost speedy.
Outside the day was misty. We took a bus to a wharf on the Li River for a scenic cruise past some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in China. Jennifer, our guide, said the mist would add soft light to our photos, so we should not be despondent.
The plan was to cruise 3½ hours through impressive gorges and tranquil farming villages to the town of Yangshou. There we'd explore the cobblestone streets, experience the local life and do some bargain shopping in the colourful markets before returning to Guilin by road in the late afternoon. It all sounded too good to be true, and so it was.
This photo was taken a short time after we left Guilin, the mountains were spectacular, this landscape on a sunny day would have been amazing.
This is not really a bird shot... even because I have already captured this species much closer, in Brazil.
This Black-capped Donacobius seemed to be enjoying his shower, and I kind of like the composition with the rain :)

A basilica is a church with an ordinary roof that does not have a domed shape. It is such a building, built in the X century, located on the main square of the city.
When Georgia became a Christian country, mass executions of priests and adherents of paganism took place on the territory. At the same time, temples were rebuilt in the church, leaving no chance for another religion. From the largest building where the pagans worshiped their gods, they made a three-nave Christian basilica. But the churches did not stand for a long time and by now have already been destroyed.
Uplistsuli in translation from Georgian means "Church of the Prince." The uniqueness of the temple lies in the fact that it was built in a purely Georgian style: the side rooms from the main are separated by walls, not columns.
Near Uplistsuli you can see the ruins of the basilica, defeated in the era of resistance to Christianity.
In the next few weeks our migrant Warblers will be returning to our shores.I have already seen and heard a chiffchaff, one of our earliest arrivals and the Sedge Warblers should arrive by April.
This male was taken a couple of years ago after it was proclaiming its territory in Devon.
Probably one of the most photographed, most tourist packed and most overrated locations in Norway, in my opinion.
We were leaving Lofoten when I took this picture. It was a brilliant sunset and I hadn't yet been able to take that "classic" Lofoten picture. When I saw this view here I just stopped and took some pictures, because OF COURSE I need to have something. I think it turned out very well.
My thoughts about Lofoten, well, it's not ideal for travelers who want to sleep in tents. Do yourself a favor and go there with an RV or something like that. Be prepared to not find any parking places, especially in Henningsvær for example. Reine was also full of people and we only found a free parking spot after six in the evening. Other people were parking along the main road but I wasn't brave like them. I already got stuck once on this trip.
I have to say I prefer southern Norway with its majestic fjords and valleys to Lofoten, but Lofoten definitely has a unique look and so, so many bridges.

This is in the beginning of the hike, where I came from sea level (somewhere on the left of the picture) and this is after ca 300 meters climbing. The magnificent view here was only the beginning of ridiculously many wonderful shots from which it is hard to choose. More to follow!
Further more you can see that it is still early in spring, where the green grass is just starting to awake.
Calm, quiet, tranquil scene captured a few weeks back and Blea Tarn - loved it up there... shared a few pics from there already, however, these ones are edited on my laptop (rather than mobile phone)

The Church was built in 1799 on the former Caminho dos Pinheiros, today Rua da Consolação, with the help of alms from devotees to Our Lady of Consolation and with the endorsement of the diocesan bishop Mateus de Abreu Pereira were able to begin its construction, with the technique of taipa, quite common at the time. Dartford Warbler - Sylvia Undata
The Dartford warbler (Sylvia undata) iDs a typical warbler from the warmer parts of western Europe and northwestern Africa. It is a small warbler with a long thin tail and a thin pointed bill. The adult male has grey-brown upperparts and is dull reddish-brown below except for the centre of the belly which has a dirty white patch. It has light speckles on the throat and a red eye-ring. The sexes are similar but the adult female is usually less grey above and paler below.
Its breeding range lies west of a line from southern England to the heel of Italy (southern Apulia). The Dartford warbler is usually resident all year in its breeding range, but there is some limited migration.
The Dartford warbler was first described by the Welsh naturalist Thomas Pennant from two specimens that were shot in April 1773 on Bexley Heath near Dartford in Kent.
The species is naturally rare. The largest European populations of Sylvia undata are in the Iberian peninsula, others in much of France, in Italy and southern England and south Wales. In Africa it can be found only in small areas in the north, wintering in northern Morocco and northern Algeria.
In southern England the birds breed on heathlands, sometimes near the coast, and nest in either common gorse (Ulex europaeus) or common heather (Calluna
Dartford warblers are named for Dartford Heath in north west Kent, where the population became extinct in the early twentieth century. They almost died out in the United Kingdom in the severe winter of 1962/1963 when the national population dropped to just ten pairs. Sylvia undata is also sensitive to drought affecting breeding success or producing heath fires, as occurred during 1975 and 1976 in England when virtually all juveniles failed to survive their first year.
However, this species can recover well in good quality habitat with favourable temperatures and rainfall, thanks to repeated nesting and a high survival rate for the young. Indeed, they recovered in some areas of the UK, but numbers are once again on the decline in other regions of their natural range.
The range of the Dartford warbler is restricted to western and southern Europe. The total population in 2012 was estimated at 1.1–2.5 million breeding pairs. The largest numbers occur in Spain where there were believed to be 983,000–1,750,000 pairs. For reasons that probably include loss of suitable habitat, the Spanish population appears to be declining. The species is therefore classed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as being Near threatened.
A period of climatic warming since 1963 has seen the UK population increase to "more than 2,500 pairs in 2006 (Wotton et al. 2009). Expansion into patches of structurally suitable habitat (up to an altitude of 400m), more northerly areas and away from the core of the range, from Dorset and Hampshire to Derbyshire and Suffolk, is likely to have been facilitated by milder winter weather (Wotton et al. 2009, Bradbury et al. 2011)... The Dartford warbler population in the UK is expected to continue to increase. However, future climate-based projections for the European range indicate that by 2080, more than 60% of the current European range may no longer be suitable (Huntley et al 2007). There is evidence that this is happening already, with severe declines in Spain and France (Green 2017). For this reason, the species is classified as Near Threatened on the IUCN Global Red List. If the declines in southern Europe continue, the UK will become increasingly important for global conservation of this species".

Earlier I already posted a picture of this roe in between the bushes where she has fled into it because of a passing cyclist (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/53962995818/in/datepo...). This was a moment before when she was grazing very peacefully although she had found out there was somebody pointing a camera at her.
It is one of those moments that you remember for the rest of your life because the whole setting breathed peace and tranquillity. For me the reason to go out as much as possible. With nature I connect, far away as possible from human society.

This onion tower was built in 1594. The construction of the church had already begun in 1467 in late gothic style, but was repeatedly interrupted due to religious disputes. It was not until 1607 that the church was finally consecrated. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Ulrich_und_Afra_(Augsburg)

During my walk from Murnau to Ohlstadt in Bavaria I walked along the Loisach river. The Loisach is a tributary of the Isar and the Isar is a tributary of the world famous Danube. Some parts of the river have a beautiful blue-green color. I decided to get off the trail to get a closer look at the river. When I got close to the current I was enchanted by the beauty of the water and the green surroundings. I was all alone, because the spot I had chosen is not known by tourists, but it is very beautiful. On the waterfront I decided to take some pictures first and then turn my phone off completely. No distraction for a while. With my pants pulled up I walked barefoot into the clear water and that was very cooling on this sun-drenched warm summer day. Staring at the impressive mountains of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, I then stood in the shallow part of the river and decided to close my eyes and think about nothing for a while. It was another special experience in beautiful Bavaria where I experienced a moment of satisfaction and ultimate peace in one of the most beautiful tributaries of the world. All my beautiful experiences of recent times have been made possible by the 9 euro ticket. Unfortunately, everything comes to an end and August 31 was the last day that the ticket could be used. I used it for three months. Only 27 euros for travelling in thee months. Sweet 9 euro ticket, it was an honor to carry you with me in the summer period. I miss you already, but the memories will last forever in the form of my photos. There will therefore be a lot of pictures here on Flickr of my adventures in Germany.

Bei meiner Wanderung von Murnau nach Ohlstadt in Bayern bin ich an der Loisach entlang gelaufen. Die Loisach ist ein Nebenfluss der Isar und die Isar ist ein Nebenfluss der weltberühmten Donau. Einige Teile des Flusses haben eine schöne blaugrüne Farbe. Ich beschloss, den Weg zu verlassen, um mir den Fluss genauer anzusehen. Als ich mich der Strömung näherte, war ich von der Schönheit des Wassers und der grünen Umgebung verzaubert. Ich war ganz allein, denn der Ort, den ich mir ausgesucht hatte, ist bei Touristen nicht bekannt, aber sehr schön. An der Uferpromenade beschloss ich, erst ein paar Fotos zu machen und dann mein Handy komplett auszuschalten. Keine Ablenkung für eine Weile. Mit hochgezogener Hose ging ich barfuß ins klare Wasser und das war an diesem sonnendurchfluteten warmen Sommertag sehr erfrischend. Mit Blick auf die imposanten Berge von Garmisch-Partenkirchen stand ich dann im seichten Teil des Flusses und beschloss, die Augen zu schließen und eine Weile an nichts zu denken. Es war ein weiteres besonderes Erlebnis im schönen Bayern, wo ich einen Moment der Zufriedenheit und des ultimativen Friedens in einem der schönsten Nebenflüsse der Welt erlebte. All meine schönen Erlebnisse der letzten Zeit wurden durch das 9-Euro-Ticket ermöglicht. Leider geht alles zu Ende und der 31. August war der letzte Tag, an dem das Ticket verwendet werden konnte. Ich habe es drei Monate lang benutzt. Nut 27 euro! Süßes 9-Euro-Ticket, es war mir eine Ehre, dich 3 monaten mitzunehmen. Ich vermisse dich jetzt schon, aber die Erinnerungen werden in Form meiner Fotos für immer bleiben. Daher wird es hier auf Flickr viele Bilder von meinen Abenteuern in Deutschland geben.

Tijdens mijn wandeling van Murnau naar Ohlstadt in Beieren liep ik langs de Loisach rivier. De Loisach is een zijrivier van de Isar en de Isar is dan weer een zijrivier van de wereldberoemde Donau. Sommige gedeelten van de rivier hebben een prachtige blauw-groene kleur. Ik besloot om van het pad af te gaan om de rivier van dichterbij te kunnen aanschouwen. Toen ik vlakbij de stroming aankwam werd ik betoverd door de schoonheid van het water en de groene omgeving. Ik was helemaal alleen, want het plekje wat ik had uitgekozen is niet bekend bij toeristen, maar wel erg mooi. Aan de waterkant besloot ik om eerst wat foto's te maken en daarna mijn telefoon helemaal uit te zetten. Even geen afleiding. Met mijn broek opgestroopt liep ik met blote voeten het heldere water in en dat was erg verkoelend op deze zonovergoten warme zomerdag. Starend naar de indrukwekkende bergen van Garmisch-Partenkirchen stond ik daarna in het ondiepe gedeelte van de rivier en besloot om vervolgens mijn ogen dicht te doen en even helemaal nergens aan te denken. Het was weer een bijzondere ervaring in het wonderschone Beieren waarbij ik een moment van voldoening en ultieme rust heb ervaren in een van de mooiste zijrivieren van de wereld. Al mijn mooie ervaringen van de afgelopen tijd zijn mede mogelijk gemaakt door het 9 euro ticket. Helaas komt aan alles een einde en was 31 augustus de laatste dag dat het ticket gebruikt kon worden. Drie maanden heb ik er gebruik van gemaakt. Lief 9 euro ticket, het was een eer om je 3 keer bij me te mogen dragen. Ik mis je nu al, maar de herinneringen blijven voor eeuwig bestaan in de vorm van mijn foto's. Er zullen daarom nog een hoop foto's hier op Flickr volgen van mijn avonturen in Duitsland.
