Die Bayerischen Alpen (Bavarian Alps) are a mountain range in Southern Germany. Its highest peak is the Zugspitze at 2,962m, situated in the western part of the Wetterstein range. Like the Alps as a whole, the Bavarian Alps, as part of the Northern Limestone Alps, were heavily influenced by the last ice age. Cirques, lakes, and typical U-shaped valleys were formed by the glaciers. Depositions by ice age rivers and glaciers left behind a gently rolling landscape in the Alpine Foreland with lakes and bogs.

Glacier 3000 (meters) in the region of the Diablerets in the Alps in western Switzerland.
A hiking paradise in summer and fun in the snow from October thru May! Summer highlights include the hike to Oldenhorn peak (3'123 m), the glacier hike from Scex Rouge to Sanetsch Pass and for those daring hikers the fixed rope route to Gemskopf.
You can enjoy the 360-degree panoramic view that includes some of the most beautiful alpine peaks - from the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau to the Matterhorn - and views onto over 24 peaks that are over 4000 m high
One of those few places in the world where you leave your ego aside, and simply stand and gawk.
Spectacular glacier view atop Jungfraujoch, the highest point in the Swiss Alps. The snow paints a razor sharp profile against the brilliant blue sky, and yet, its texture betrays its softness!
One side of the glacier shows the white and soft snow, while the other side reveals the hard, rocky structure of the mountain. The altitude is above the clouds, so the sky is always brilliantly blue and crystal clear.
The only other thing I've seen that's comparable are the glaciers in the Himalayas.
