It's still FREEZING here, but look at how nice and green my grass is.....that's kinda strange! Friday they say we might get snow flurries, now that's even stranger!!! This has been the coldest winter in history here in Florida and it's only January!!! My dogs are enjoying the cold temps. I'm a bit surprised that Lola likes it too, since she has no body hair (alopecia x) I thought it would be too cold for her.
This adult Arctic Fox was moving across some boulder scree heading towards a Little Auk colony. I did post a photo of her peeping from behind a rock but here's the full fox face. Arctic Foxes are amazing animals surviving seriously low temperatures. One young female was fitted with a GPS tracker on Svalbard in 2019. She then walked from east Spitsbergen across the sea ice to Greenland, then across to Ellesmere Island in Arctic Canada. She covered 2179 miles in 76 days before her tracker stopped working. Another was reported actually at the North Pole.
Its scientific name used to be Alopex lagopus, though it has recently been lumped with Red Fox in the genus Vulpes. Alopex is Greek for fox and we get the word Alopecia (hair loss) from this root because of fox mange. Lagopus means hare-footed because of their fluffy feet.
Tussilago farfara L. in fruits.
Captured by Canon IXUS 275 HS (ELPH 350) in vicinity of Tomsk (Western Siberia, Russia). Jun 2016.

The changes I've made in the last few months have had such a major impact on my life.
When I started losing my hair again (I have recurring alopecia, which likes to bob it's lovely bald head up when I'm feeling especially stressed out) I decided to withdraw myself from the Rat Race.
Compromising my happiness (and sanity) for the sake of money and clients was dragging me down so much, but it's all I'd known for the last few years. I knew I wasn't happy, but couldn't pinpoint why.
Turns out, all I needed was to set some time aside every day to breathe in the fresh air, put my headphones in and lie in a big old field and appreciate how tiny and insignificant to the universe my happiness is. I have refocused myself on being kind, more on having fun, more on adventures, poetry, music, travel, the odd romance and generally feeling alive!
I feel confident and like my inside smile matches my outside smile now! Hooray!
So here's a little selfie to celebrate, nothing too fancy and of course inspired by all the fantastic photographers who have shared their own worlds with me through their pictures and inspired me to make this change. There are too many to mention over the years. But thanks to you all!
Here's an Arctic Fox giving a backwards glance on her way to plunder a Little Auk colony on Svalbard. Arctic Foxes are amazing animals surviving seriously low temperatures. It has recently been shifted to the standard fox genus Vulpes based on molecular studies, but its previous scientific name was Alopex lagopus. Alopex is Greek for fox and we get the word Alopecia (hair loss) from this root because of fox mange. Lagopus means hare-footed because of their fluffy feet. It is now Vulpes lagopus, Vulpes being the Latin word for fox.
Worth a moment to click the pic and view on black, I think...

... relaxing after a busy day yesterday. A visit to the Vet, she was not impressed. Diagnosed with feline alopecia, followed by a therapeutic hormone injection, as the Vet thinks it is caused by a hormone imbalance.

I really hate my hair today. I know I should be greatful of having some. Sometimes I get bouts of alopecia and January/Feb is the worst time. At least I have some to show at the moment!
This Arctic Fox was carrying a dead Brunnich's Guillemot at the nesting cliffs at Alkefjellet. It was so determined to get back with this prize to its hungry cubs that it never paused to make eye contact, and it disappeared in a matter of seconds. We saw a number of other Arctic Foxes but they were always a bit too far for photographs.

My story
Betung was found by a villager’s dog in an orchard at Kampung Betung, Ranau district in April 2020. The villager claimed that she was wandering alone and was a very tiny cub with no teeth during the rescue. She was previously kept as a house pet in a chicken wire mesh cage and was fed with Lactogen milk powder only - she lacked sufficient nutrients for her growth and development. The villager was willing to surrender the cub to the Sabah Wildlife Department. She was sent to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park on 21st August 2020. She came to BSBCC on 26th August 2020. Upon arrival at the BSBCC, her weight was 1.4kg and she was in a poor condition, underweight and suffering from being emaciated, malnourished and had multiple alopecia on her head and body.
After all the constant tugging each and every time the witch and the prince climbed up Rapunzel's long blonde hair, her hair started to fall out in clumps due to Alopecia.
When the Prince saw this, he ran away and never came back to see her again. He never really loved her for the person she was. He suffered from Trichophilia which was the main reason why he was attracted to Rapunzel.
Rapunzel was heart broken, and after looking at her own reflection in the mirror, she came to a final decision and shaved the rest of her hair. The witch was never ever able to climb up Rapunzel's hair anymore, and Rapunzel was left alone without food and water in the tower.
Days before Rapunzel's death she had hallucinations due to the lack of company and water. She dreamt that the Prince came back to save her, and that she still had her long blonde hair. She lost her mind and eventually she died from starvation and dehydration.
It's my first time trying to photoshop a bald head, I think it still needs a bit of work, but since I'm busy, this is the best I can do, sorry!!!!
Oh and this week is going to be HELL, I mean it, wish me luck!! <3
Hopefully when I have more time on my hands, I'll have better ideas and HOPEFULLY I can improve my photoshopping!
Tips and advice are welcome =)
And yes I'm quite aware my stories are getting sillier!
La crisis económica obliga hasta a las aves a desprenderse poco a poco de sus pertenencias para poder sobrevivir.
They're gooooooone.
I'm going to the barber's tomorrow and (alopecia permitting. 'cause i'm not doing it if it's going to look too weird. I have my limits) the rest of this'll be gone.
The only reason why I have become a rail photographer, the only reason why I am still one and the only reason why I forget my 'alopecia'. GY DM3A 14009
at the annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Awesome band with a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2023 and for Best Bluegrass album in '23 & '24. She took off her wig in mid performance and shared her personal experience of alopecia. She also covered Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit."

I dont usually post anything on my blog, but I wanted to share this. Everything was fine a few months back. Then I started noticing that when I washed my hair, more and more of it would come out. I finally went to a dermatologist who diagnosed me with alopecia areata. I have dealt with hair loss before, but this time it was much more dramatic and much more noticable. I have gone through a huge range of emotions, anger, disgust, sadness, empowerment, acceptance, and back again. Tomorrow, I am going in to have the rest of what is left, shaved off. I went in two weeks ago to have just the sides done, but now the front is falling out. I dont know if I will let it grow back a third time. Each time is more devastating then the last. I havent been blogging that much lately, and this is one of the reasons why. This post is very special to me, because last week was my 6 year blog anniversary, and because of all of this, I missed it. But tomorrow starts a new chapter in my life.
The End.
Happy New Year, all.
And thank you. Thank you so much for coming along for this wild and crazy ride.
Tune: Sean Price & Illa Ghee "The Bryan Song" feat. rim
[Sample]
When you gonna realize money is the king of the land
The color of your skin doesn't matter when you got it in your hand
[Verse 1: Illa Ghee]
I got that feeling to clap
A young black Bob Dylan of rap
You can fill in the gap
Sacrilegious, dick in the mouth of bad bitches
It's cool when it's G Rap on roads to riches
On fleek when I tilt my own beep, beep I'm vicious
Deep with the bullets I speak sleeps your mistress
No assistance, ghetto icing on the sentence
I'm different, pissing on the world from a distance
[Verse 2: Sean Price]
Alejandro!
Metal detect
Detect metal, level your set
Benevolent and legit, I'm the exceptional vet
The vet sent death threat direct express
One way ticket to hell, jail, fuck with the best
P, boss with a violent past
Break north, get lost like the Tribe of Shabazz
Knowledge 120
Breaking compounds down the brolic gun dummy
P!
[Chorus: Rim]
The viking, the Brother Mouzone
Get your thoughts thrown from verbal to hand chrome
Rap predators don't get caught in the feeding
This is Mic Tyson writing social graffiti
The viking, the Brother Mouzone
Get your thoughts thrown from verbal to hand chrome
Rap predators don't get caught in the feeding
This is Mic Tyson writing social graffiti
[Verse 3: Sean Price]
Ravaging the booth rapping shit
Savage in pursuit of happiness
I don't co-sign or support thoughts
Of bitch niggas eating collard greens with salt pork
This is the onslaught
The fifth have me rocking on the shit that your son brought
Glad to meet ya
Push your wig back you got alopecia
P!
[Verse 4: Illa Ghee]
Master Illa massacre
Move at any matter it don't matter
Illa is better than competitor
Your chatterbox get boxed in and brain splattered
Rain rapture
Pain captured in my vein
Cocaine like metaphors
Aim high in plain sight
Poke her on a plane pipe put in your dame
Got a .44 focus on your fame slain the predator
Legendary, I'm every murder inside America
[Chorus: Rim]
The viking, the Brother Mouzone
Get your thoughts thrown from verbal to hand chrome
Rap predators don't get caught in the feeding
This is Mic Tyson writing social graffiti
The viking, the Brother Mouzone
Get your thoughts thrown from verbal to hand chrome
Rap predators don't get caught in the feeding
This is Mic Tyson writing social graffiti

What will set you aside from the other girls?: "I think my very Californian and girl next door look will give me a higher advantage over the other girls in the competition."
About Letitia: "Hey, I'm Letitia! I'm a very fun loving and bubbly young woman. I'm very loving and protective towards the people I love and I have a strong feeling that I'm definitly going to be the mother hen of the house. I'm not the type of person who fights and cause a fuss as I'm very grateful for everything I have in my life. A secret of mine that not many people know is that I actually suffer from Alopecia, its a disease where my hair falls out due to stress and eventually grows back in small clumps. I have a vast collection of wigs that I wear - I even have a pink one! I am extremely determind to win this competition not just for myself, but to be a role model to all the other young girls who also suffer from Alopecia. I know I can win this as long as I try my absolute hardest.
