During breakfast, I read a scathing review of a popular Almere restaurant (part of a national chain) in our newspaper and remembered that we had once had lunch there (and it actually wasn't half bad) and that Almere's new land and new town's architecture is fascinating.

The Wave is a residential complex in the centre of the Dutch city of Almere and was completed in 2004. The building was designed by architect René van Zuuk and is part of Citymall Almere. The complex is located on the Weerwater.

‘Almere Boven’, het laatst gerealiseerde werk van het Museumbos, is een dertig meter hoge berg met een spiraalvormig wandelpad omhoog. Op de top staat het monument voor de Peetvaders van Almere, dat terugkijkt op ons verleden en een blik biedt in het heden. Het werk, gemaakt door Gijs Frieling, is opgedragen aan de ‘peetvaders’ van Almere onder wie zijn vader, stedenbouwkundige Dirk Frieling. Door het werk te beklimmen heeft de bezoeker uitzicht over de polder en zijn alle percelen van bovenaf te zien. Door de natuurlijke aard van de werken zijn seizoen, jaar, dag en uur allemaal bepalend voor het beleven van het museumbos. Wegens Corona is het momenteel niet mogelijk de berg te beklimmen.
