Before the start of the ANA Aircraft Maintenance Facility tour was a 30min intro. Japanese spoken and it was about Haneda, All Nippon Airways and the rules in the hangar.
At the end they would name everyone and when your name was called, you walk to the back and get a helmet. The class was divided into 3 groups and I was in the team with the mint coloured helmets. I thought: will she be able to call my name? I don't have a Japanese name. She pronounced just my first name and I was the only Gilbert there.

With All Nippon Airways being the launch customer and the first airline to operate the Boeing 787, the carrier have a substantial portion that are over a decade old when deliveries began in late-2011 and entering service in the same year. God, I feel old!
Naturally, the Boeing 787-8 was first in the Dreamliner family which ANA took a large portion for a variety of roles, operating small and thin long-haul routes from either Tokyo-Haneda or Tokyo-Narita hubs, with a small portion also being utilised strictly on Japanese domestic flights. The same can also be said for their Boeing 787-9s where their roles are somewhat the same operating both international long-haul and Japanese domestic flights.
Considering how early ANA received their Boeing 787s, there were certain examples that the carrier did not accept given the manufacturing complexities and flaws during the early stages of the programme. JA805A for example was initially to be Line No. 12 or LN12, one of the so-called Terrible Teens owing to the airframe being considerably overweight requiring further modifications compared to later build Boeing 787s. Ultimately, ANA did not accept LN12, instead JA805A being LN31 instead. LN12 would end up being delivered to Ethiopian Airlines as ET-ATL in 2016.
For All Nippon Airways, the carrier during the S23 schedule sees Boeing 787s on all thrice daily flights into Los Angeles; the single daily flight to and from Tokyo-Narita (NH5/6) utilises Boeing 787-9s which have replaced Boeing 777-300ERs, whilst for Tokyo-Haneda sees Boeing 787-8s operating thrice-weekly on NH125/126 operating Thursday, Friday and Sunday only with Boeing 787-9s operating the remaining 4-times weekly flights, whilst at the same time Boeing 787-9s operate daily on NH105/106 which too have replaced Boeing 777-300ERs. With all 3 daily flights into Los Angeles utilising Boeing 787s at present, there is a nice bit of variety within the fleet with their liveries unlike Japan Airlines which is somewhat more conservative.
Currently, All Nippon Airways operates 79 Boeing 787s, which includes 36 Boeing 787-8s, 40 Boeing 787-9s and 3 Boeing 787-10s. All Nippon Airways have 8 Boeing 787-9s and 12 Boeing 787-10s on-order.

Japan's largest carrier, All Nippon Airways currently operates the largest fleet of Boeing 787s; the airline was a launch customer and took delivery of the very first examples back in 2011 (hard to believe the eldest Boeing 787s are now over a decade old!) and ever since have been loyal to the wide-body jet, effectively forming the backbone to their long-haul fleet.
Finding All Nippon Airways Boeing 787 fleet however have been a particular challenge, being much more dominant on thinner long-haul routes across North America, Europe and across Asia... Their use in the UK is very limited, apart from a brief period when ANA reinstated flights between London Heathrow and Tokyo-Haneda during the latter half of 2022, Boeing 777-300ERs are the regular allocated aircraft.
One such route that the Boeing 787 allowed ANA to launch was to Brussels; the route commenced for the W15 schedule which operated daily utilising Boeing 787-8s, benefitting from its joint-venture with Lufthansa Group. NH231/232 is one of the few routes into Brussels that operates to the Asia-Pacific region, with many carriers preferring to utilise nearby Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam-Schiphol and Frankfurt for their operations to and from Asia.
NH231/232 was a casualty following the COVID-19 global pandemic amongst other ANA European flights; the flight was temporarily reinstated during mid-October 2020 to provide cargo-only flights, and its operations was sporadic throughout 2021 and 2022 when Japan was still not accepting tourists. Commercial flights were reinstated on 11th March 2023 and operates twice-weekly on Wednesday and Saturday only, with Boeing 787-9s operating the flights. Rather than utilise Tokyo-Haneda, the flight has consistently operated from Tokyo-Narita since 2015 when the route first launched.
