All that is gold does not glitter,

not all those who wander are lost;

the old that is strong does not wither,

deep roots are not reached by the frost ...

The patterns of her soul

I swear every year we have less and less frogs in our pond. I remember a time when they would smile for the camera. Maybe it’s because our pond has been taken over by duckweed. I think we may need to purchase lots of pond snails to eat it all, plus they’ll be fun to capture too.

I finally got out with the camera this year, after a couple of months battling with chronic pain. I was incredibly grateful to capture these beauty’s again but this time at the Tropical Butterfly House near Sheffield, in the UK.

Captured freehand using a Raynox 250 connector lens whilst holding my breath.

This South American tropical butterfly is called a Glasswing Butterfly and although the wings look extremely fragile, they are in fact very strong and are able to carry forty times their own body weight….

Snail shells are so fascinating, so many and yet each one has it’s own individual pattern. No two are the same. Just like our fingerprints, they all look very similar but each of us is unique, but still very much connected…

This was one of those days that was super sunny in the morning and once my friend and I had walked pretty far into the hills, the skies suddenly turned from blue to black and the heavens opened up. This was the day we realised our waterproof coats were in fact useless and we got completely soaked but my did we laugh and we still laugh about it now.

Life rarely goes as we planned but this is how memories are made…

The way we see the world shapes the way we treat it.

If a mountain is a deity, not a pile of ore.. if a forest is a sacred grove, not timber; if other species are biological kin, not resources; or if the planet is our mother, not an opportunity - - then we will treat each other with greater respect. Thus is the challenge, to look at the world from a different perspective.

My camera is super heavy, one day when we have lots more money, I will go out and buy a lighter camera but not until we have paid it all to our gas and electricity company and to our local supermarkets. We are clearly living in Rip Off Britain especially when we come to understand that both electric companies and supermarkets have just made the most highest recorded profits in history and there was me thinking there was a cost of living crisis…. Turns out, it is just corporate greed!!!

Rant over…. So until we can buy a lighter camera, I’ve taken to using my iPhone 11 Pro at times, mostly high pain days.

She may have a wild soul,

but she's a lover of simple

things and quiet places.

Captured using the Raynox 250 attached macro lens, this was captured Freehand whilst holding my breath. Not the easiest thing to do, it takes a lot of patience and a very still hand but I do find a tripod just gets in the way and I love that adrenaline rush when I’ve finally managed a clear shot..

A gentle reminder to never fall into the trap of comparing yourself, in all your gloriously flawed and messy wondrousness, to someone's else's carefully curated online content.

"The key to the understanding of Ireland - Irish history, Irish archaeology, Irish culture, the great sagas - everything is based on cattle. Cows are everything and everywhere"

📜 Ireland's first cows were probably brought by boat from mainland Europe more than 6,000 years ago.

Tits are a small family of song birds. Only three species are resident breeders in Ireland and all three are common at bird tables: the Blue Tit, the Great Tit, and the Coal Tit.

The Coal Tit is the drabbest of the colourful trio.

A Memory…

What is this thing called silence?

It is nothing I can comprehend.

For all I know is noise,

It has been my constant friend.

I have never known of this thing called silence...

I can wholeheartedly confess

that even whilst the world sleeps,

I don't know of this nothingnes!

- lynnettebolton_photography

Be careful when reading the title 😂

I heard someone say

"don't cross oceans for people who wouldn't cross a puddle for you."

Which I thought was good advice.

But then someone else spoke up and said "No. Do it. Do cross oceans for people. Love all people.

No conditions attached.

No wondering whether or not they are worthy.

Cross oceans, climb mountains. Life and love isn't about what you gain, it's about what you give."

And I changed my mind.
