Il termine "ala" è uno dei più generici tra quelli appartenenti al linguaggio umano. Di ali, in Natura, ce ne sono infatti di tipi diversissimi: tutte sorprendentemente efficienti e mirabilmente strutturate. Dalle ali membranose e vascolarizzate dei chirotteri, a quelle piumate degli uccelli, fino a quelle chitinose e rigide degli insetti coleotteri. Tra le più belle, comunque, figurano quelle delle farfalle, traslucide, luminose e decorate da un mosaico di minuscole e coloratissime squame ..... ..
Bizim sokağın abilerinden biri Ali Kömürcüoğlu. Bugünlerde canı sıkkın biraz çünkü Ali baba dergahının müdavimlerinden tabii senatör Cahit (Karakay) ağabey rahatsız ve uzun süredir İstanbul'da tedavide. Yokluğu biraz üzüyor eski dostunun. Hoca (Fikret Özben), Hakkı Sezen, Salih Tüysüz, Emin Başarır ve arada bir uğrayan arkadaşları olmasa oldukça canı sıkılacak Cahit ağabeyin yokluğuna. İki gün önce telefonla konuşmuş bize de selam iletmiş Cahit ağabey. İnşallah çabuk taburcu olur gelir de biz de sohbete devam ederiz eski Biga üzerine.
Ali ağabey kendi dükkanının önünde otururken görüntülemiştim 24 Mart günü. Selam olsun.

So I was convinced Alis was going to be a blonde haired blue eyed girl but as usual fairyland girls have thwarted my plans (Aoife was meant to be a fey woodland sprite....can you imagine it??)

Ali Qapu (also spelled Āli Qapu or Aali Qapu) usually refers to the name for the palaces of Safavid kings. When Iranians were defeated by Ottoman forces, they were forced to move their capital from Tabriz to Qazvin, and then to Isfahn, to avoid occupation of the capital city.
[Note: This was a conversation I had months before COVID-19. I'm not connecting with anyone during this time].
Ali (pictured) and Frank were on the north side of the Michigan Avenue bridge. Both talkative and friendly guys. Frank had a lovely dog and cat by his side. They both needed work, but didn't have enough money to get transportation for the month. Ali has been homeless on and off for 8 1/2 years. He mainly sleeps on Lower Wacker, but also stays in a shelter in Oak Park from time to time.
I couldn't resist a cheeky wee zoom in as both David Bishop and Ali Millar were sporting some rather excellent footwear!
