Unfortunately the ponds in the park are in need of serious care. This one is completely covered in a layer of Algae.

This is a photograph of rocks covered with green algae growing in a saltwater lagoon cut off from fresh ocean water by a sandbar. The sunlight acts as a fuel for the algae and plenty of sunlight equates to plenty of algae. Pomponio Beach is located on the northern coast of California at Half Moon Bay. The shimmering ocean water covering the algae gives the appearance of an abstract painting.

The fish in the image is a Golden Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri), an ornate color variety of the common Chinese Algae Eater.
This freshwater fish is native to large parts of Southeast Asia, including Northern India and Thailand.
This is photographed from my sweet water tank.
There were 2 or 3 small areas of this at the edge of Lake Wendouree. Surprisingly it didn't stop the water hens and ducks who just kept paddling through.
Looked a bit like a soft carpet you could walk on but was actually a very thin layer.
