This is one of the powerheads inside the aquarium covered by coraline algae, the growth made it clog and eventually stopped working, but strangely after one year it started working again.
A month ago, this pond hosted two duck families, a turtle, a heron, and lots of fish. Families loved to come down and feed the animals. This is what the pond looks like today. I complained to the management company. They told me they sent someone down who said the pond was fine. Does this look fine to you?
Oar kelp and coraline algae in a deep surge channel at Bean Hollow State Park, Pescadero, CA. In the center left, the brownish areas are ostrich plume hydroids - best left untouched. At the top of the image, you can see a 12" high surge of water from the extra large swells that were happening that morning. I had stuck the camera in the channel at arms length and was hoping for the best....

Greenpeace activists confront delegates of the ongoing Helsinki Commission meeting with algae and dead cod. 25 % of the Baltic Sea bottom area is already dead due to eutrophication and the cod stocks are threatened by overfishing. Greenpeace demands rapid action to combat the ocean crisis. The algae was collected in Helsinki the day before.

Many species of pink coralline algae, which cements coral reefs together, cover a reef surface in the Southern Line Islands.
Accidentally brought from Japan by the oyster industry. It is surrounded by Rockweed (Fucus gardneri). Edith Point, Mayne Island, Gulf Islands, British Columbia
