From the same drainage as the droplets picture just beside this one. The algae was long and dripping with water like mermaid hair.

My new microscope setup arrived yesterday. I took several photos of

our local hot springs algae and posted them on flickr. This new setup

using the proscope HR on a analog 400x microscope works reasonably

well. I still need a lot more practice.

In the end of August 2014 I was very lucky to be able to spend 5 wonderful days at Surfana Bloemendaal www.surfanabloemendaal.com where we had a fabulous time. Together with Daniela Klütsch from Landlinien www.landlinien.de we enjoyed the fabulous surfcamp, surfing lessons, great staff members and guests. The warm and welcoming atmosphere made you feel relaxed and happy instantly. Thanks again for a great time Surfana Bloemendaal!

Algae-derived fuel can be made into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. It has a nearly closed carbon footprint and does not need to displace green areas or food crops in order to produce it. In fact, it can be grown in the middle of the desert and it can use salt water, rather than fresh water, to grow.

One of my early morning sunrise shots of some algae. The shot was taken at Kaikoura on the south island of New Zealand

I walk my dogs here all the time, but this day was unique. It had snowed slightly the evening before and left a really thin sheet of ice above the algae in the water. It was really cool so I went back home to grab my camera. The dogs got 2 walks that morning.
