Alberto lives in the sewers of Colorido, making repairs and ensuring the smooth operation of the town’s waterworks. He reportedly has not left the sewers since learning his trade as a child from Hudor the Greek. Those who have glimpsed him through grates recoil at his ashen skin and marvel at his strangely colored eyes (a result of bearing witness to a miasma he should not have beheld). Most will agree: though he largely remains unseen, his presence can be regularly felt. Alberto takes a vacation twice a year. Though he does not leave the sewers, he does stop working for two weeks. And during this time, if it is very still at night, and the wind is blowing just right, one can hear him reading Thucydides aloud: “…they have got to the country of myth and there they stay…”
