Does It Matter? - Essays on Man's Relation to Materiality, US book, 1969

It struck me that the double helix of the spiral galaxy and the DNA spiral are analogous- 'as above, so below'. This led me to thinking what is the human equivalent of this spiral and of course it is lovemaking. This whole principle is symbolised by the Caduceus, the twin entwined snakes creating a perfect balance.

How about THEM apples?

"the fall of man in Genesis is his venture into technology. Because in the bible the hebrew words for the knowledge of good and evil are connected with technics. What is technically expeditious and what is not. Words connected with actually metallurgy. And to be as god you see--when you eat of the tree of knowledge and you become as god means you think you're going to control your own life. And god says, 'ok baby, you wanted to be god, you try it , but the problem with you is you have a one-track mind and therefore you can't be god. To be god you have to have a infinitely many tracked mind."

-Alan Watts

In the 60s, British-born philosopher and Zen Buddhist Alan Watts (1915 — 1973) used to live in such houseboats in Sausalito. Actually, his houseboat was named the Vallejo and can be found here (Google Maps). It was originally a ferry built in 1879 which operated in Portland, Oregon.

Alan Watts was and still is an amazing inspiration to the world.

We are inviting you to discover the illusion of this. When we explore it, we investigate this awareness, perceiving, understanding this illusion, going deep into it through self-enquiry, meditation and this surrender, we have the possibility to go beyond this duality, beyond this confusion and this suffering, beyond all this disorder, beyond this neurosis. ~Master Gualberto ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O único conselho é: você não é real. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Etestamos convidando você a descobrir a ilusão disso. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ramanashramgualberto #mestregualberto #satsang #ramana #ramanamaharshi #byronkatie #awakes #spiritualgrowth #lightworker #ubuntu #lifequotes #arunachala #iamthat #nisargadattamaharaj #wuhsin #advaitavedanta #jnani #amma #adyashanti #sadhguru #gurdjieff #jiddukrishnamurti #darshan #alanwatts #rebirthing #abrahamhicks #matrix#whoami #zen #meditation ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Alan Wilson Watts (January 6, 1915 – November 16, 1973) was a British philosopher, writer, speaker, and student of comparative religion. He was best known as an interpreter and popularizer of Asian philosophies for a Western audience.

He wrote more than 25 books and numerous articles on subjects such as personal identity, the true nature of reality, higher consciousness, meaning of life, concepts and images of God and the pursuit of happiness. In his books he relates his experience to scientific knowledge and to the teachings of Eastern(Asia) and Western culture religions or philosophies (Zen Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Hinduism, etc.).

A Basho Film

In this film we visit amazing Angkor Wat, Cambodia and the other “Temples of Angkor”

Angkor Wat (or Angkor Vat) (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត), is a temple complex at Angkor, Cambodia, built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation—first Hindu, dedicated to Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors.

After spending 3 days over Xmas 2008 in Siem Reap, and recording over 2 hours of footage of our exploration of these amazing structures, I couldn’t help but make a short film to celebrate them.

However, Understanding Angkor is not easy, so I enlisted the help from the MP3 library of philosopher Alan Watts.

Hope you enjoy, and please leave a comment.
