A tribute to "V for Vendetta," by Alan Moore. The movie is great too.

The great engineer, scientiest and rebel Captain Nemo.Original character by Jules Verne, this version is based on Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's version from League of Extraordinary Gentelemen comics.

More on Cyclopic Bricks.

I finally got around to reading Watchmen, which was fantastic, as expected. Couldn't resist building the main lineup. I would really recommend checking out the show as well, because it is a spectacular sequel to the book.

Redesign do clássico anti-herói Swamp Thing através da capa da edição #43, na qual ainda havia a mente brilhante de Alan Moore por trás. Talvez a ilustração mais trabalhosa (e demorada) que já fiz.

I've purchased very few of DC's "Absolute" editions of comics as I think they are generally a cash grab and not worth the expense. I have two copies of this one, one for me and one put away for my son.

I really enjoy the fact that every time I read it, I find something I hadn't noticed before.

I usually try to keep my comic builds closer to the all ages side of things, but I couldn't resist the chance to do this one.

The cover to the Watchmen trade had stuck in my mind from the first time I thought about doing a "Comic Bricks" cover and the time finally came to shake it loose.

“There's a notion I'd like to see buried: the ordinary person. Ridiculous. There is no ordinary person.”

So after sorting through old builds I found my little Jack Kirby minifig I built right after Stan Lee's passing, and was inspired to make some more influential faces from the comic industry across the decades!

So I made eleven more to go alone with him and Stan! I wanted to include even few more, like Scott Snyder, C.C. Beck, George Perez, Julie Schwartz, Kevin Smith, Bill Finger, Siegel and Shuster (...just to name a few) but I had to stop at some point before I had a photo that was wider than I am tall :P

So yeah, I don't really think this is all that impressive of a photo, so Patreon has this image (plus one more) publicly available to all that want to see it there! (maybe I'll post that one later too, but who knows!)

When the League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen confront Professor Moriarty in his fortress, they must contend with all manner of foes.

Swigging an entire flask of Dr. Jekyll's formula, Moriarty's lieutenant Dante, is transformed into this monstrosity.

These Lego creations are from the 2003 film, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."

A very special shout out to Lord Allo. His League challenge helped me get off my butt and finish this piece. I've been sitting on this one for a couple of years.

"Why ... are you doing this?"

"To prove a point."

"The photograph is in my hand.”

“It is the photograph of a man and a woman. They are at an amusement park, in 1959”

“In twelve seconds time, I drop the photograph to the sand at my feet, walking away. It's already lying there twelve seconds into the future.”

“Ten seconds now.”

“The photograph is in my hand.”

“I found it in a derelict bar at The Gila Flats Test Base twenty-seven hours ago.”

“It's still there twenty-seven hours in the past, in it's frame in the darkened bar.”

“I'm still there looking at it.”

“The photograph is in my hand. The woman takes a piece of popcorn between her thumb and forefinger. The ferris wheel pauses.”

“Seven seconds now.”

“It's October, 1985, I'm on Mars. It's July 1959, I'm in New Jersey at the Palisades Amusement Park.”

“Four seconds. Three.”

“I'm tired of looking at this photograph now.”

“I open my fingers. It falls to the sand at my feet.”

“I'm going to look at the stars.”

“They are so far away, and their light takes so long to reach us...”

“All we see of stars are their old photographs.”

This very familiar contemporary mask is part of the National Portrait Gallery’s collection in London. It was derived from Alan Moore’s graphic novel V for Vendetta in the 1980s and inspired by Guy Fawkes, he of 'Gunpowder Plot' infamy.

A 'graphic novel', by the way, is a long-form, fictional work of sequential art - not unlike, but distinct from, a comic book.

aka The Human Bean Juice and The King of Kings

My only regret in making these six was that there wasn't a place for Bubastis among them... not that I feel brave enough to even try to redesign that big magenta cat as a Brickheadz build... but I just like em... he's a neat superfluous addition to the narrative of the book and he's just kinda neat :P

Uh anyway, if you wanna see the rest of my Watchmen Brickheadz like how they were designed and translated and all of that, you can on my Patreon Page! Link in the bio!

Lunchtime reading: advance copy of Illuminations, a short story collection by the great bearded magus, Alan Moore, due to be published by Bloomsbury (same publisher who do the Harry Potter books among many others) in October 2022. I believe Alan has a multi-book deal with them, after the collection there's a series on the way next.

The most apprehensive superhero in New York, and the most sane journalist of the 1980s.

Yes that's right folks I'm taking on Dave Gibbon's art and ruining it by turning his most iconic characters into Brickheadz for you all to hate! :)

See how I built these two over on my Patreon Page! Link in the bio!

My favorite adaptation of Mr. Hyde comes from the 2003 film, "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." The movie itself is nowhere near as good as the comic series it's based off of. Thankfully it has some incredible production design. Whenever I think of Mr. Hyde, it's this version I picture.

Steve Johnson created the prosthetic effects for Mr. Hyde. His talents can be seen as far back as the original "Fright Night" from the 80's.

Jason Flemyng brilliantly brought the creature to life.

The rest of the League is already made. I'll be posting them soon.

More pictures of Marta here.

This photo was captured two or three months ago. Not sure why I opted not to share it. If anything it's superior to the two Promethea portraits I did share at the time. Most likely I was wearying of my old rocky backdrop.
