With her huge 122 foot wing-span prominent in this view, NASA's General Dynamics/Martin WB-57F N928NA caught arriving in near darkness into RAF Mildenhall back in 2005

Originally a Martin-built B-57 52-1536 and re-built by General Dynamics and re-serialed as 63-13298.

We waited and waited until finally she appeared with that strange whirring sound from her Turbo-Fan engines, landing at 18:15 that mid October evening - hence the poor light - though if I'd had a wet film camera - this image would be black!

CCCP-30055 (c/n1101) was converted to an NBC reconnaissance aircraft with air-sampling pods under the forward fuselage and other sensors for monitoring nuclear, biological and chemical warfare by-products

30055 was used for monitoring the plume from the Chernobyl No.4 nuclear reactor fire and became permanently radioactive in the process, being withdrawn from use immediately afterwards.

Anne Rolfes, Founding Director of LABB, discusses how the air sample gets from the bucket to the lab.

Outreach volunteers and Grassroots Mapping volunteers gathered for bucket training so that they can do air sampling while out on the water or working in coastal communities.

Mr. Ford has lived in the shadows Chalmette Refining for almost 50 years. He is no stranger to the need for community based, participatory monitoring of refineries. In this image he demonstrates how to use the EPA bucket which outreach and mapping teams will take with them on trips.

Ushahidi filmmaker, Jon, was in town working with outreach and mapping teams throughout the week to capture the work we are doing.
