This aircraft is impressive in every way. Inside, she's truly a time capsule. As huge as it is, the fuselage was able to fit in the belly of a C-5 Galaxy for her final "flight" to the Air Mobility Command Museum.
Lockheed C-5A Galaxy, 69-0014, c/n 500-0045
According to Joe Baugher's serial number database, this Galaxy was delivered to the USAF in 1971 and it made its l last flight in 2013.*
In 1974, this C-5A successfully air-dropped and launched an LGM-30 Minuteman ICBM in the Air Mobile Feasibility Demonstration. However, such deployment of Minuteman missiles from airlifters was never adopted.

The Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control.
In response, the Western Allies organized the Berlin airlift to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin.
Aircrews from the United States Air Force, the British Royal Air Force, the French Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and the South African Air Force flew over 200,000 flights in one year, providing to the West Berliners up to 8,893 tons of supplies each day.

Photographed with an iPhone during a reception for the Thunder Over Dover Air Show, this Douglas C-54M Skymaster is the sole remaining Skymaster modified to haul coal during the Berlin Airlift. This airframe had a long military service history from 1945 to 1971!

The C-124 was a heavy-lift transport aircraft that served in the US Air Force from 1950 through 1974.

This beautiful An-2 Colt was recently restored at the Air Mobility Command Museum, where it resides. This aircraft is a later example, built in Poland. Restoration photos show the former Soviet registration; the rest of the information resides on Airliners.net.
This Lodestar was formerly at the Museum of Aviation, Warner Robbins AFB; it was brought to the Air Mobility Command Museum inside a C-5 Galaxy.

The C-47 Skytrain on permanent display inside the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base delivered paratroopers into Nazi-occupied France during the D-Day invasion. The aircraft is the cornerstone of the museum- it was the first aircraft in the museum's collection.

The C-5 Galaxy is a long-range cargo aircraft and is among the largest military aircraft in the world. The C-5 in the photograph was ordered in 1969 and built by Lockheed Aircraft. It was delivered to the U. S. Air Force in 1971. In 1974, the aircraft conducted a Air Mobile Feasibility Test with a Minuteman Missile to prove that ICBMs could be launched airborne by extracting it by parachute from the aircraft in mid flight and firing its rocket engine to launch the warhead. The test was successful and was used as a negotiating point in the Strategic Arms Limitation talks (SALT). The aircraft was retired from service in 2013. In 2015, the aircraft was on static display at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base. (Text adapted from a sign at the Museum.)
