Loud snoring is caused by obstructed airflow in the airway, which causes the tissues in the nose, mouth, or throat to vibrate. Factors that can contribute to this obstruction and snoring include being overweight, relaxing throat muscles due to alcohol consumption or certain medications, nasal congestion from allergies or a cold, and anatomical features like a long soft palate or enlarged tonsils. Sleeping on your back can also promote snoring by allowing your tongue to block the airway.

it is irreplaceable and precious.

After a slightly disturbing dream last night, I decided to make sure that the old airflow was still up to scratch, so I dug out the appropriate piece of test equipment and took some readings. Luckily, as you can see from the dials, everything is nominal. Phew.

The Airflow contained a series of innovative "firsts" which anticipated the car of today. The structurally integrated body and chassis had greater strength and safety, whilst moving the rear seats witthin the wheelbase and

the engine forward of the front wheels resulted in better handling and ride quality. The Airflow´s interior featured tubular steel framedseating and modern materials;safety glass, marbelised rubber and Bakelite. The early radically streamlined body was shaped by wind tunnel studies with hel from Orville Wrigth, and it hasart deco details that echo the architecture of the period.

March 2006, the Davies Alpine House opened, the third version of an alpine house since 1887. Although only 16 metres (52 ft) long the apex of the roof arch extends to a height of 10 metres (33 ft) in order to allow the natural airflow of a building of this shape to aid in the all-important ventilation required for the type of plants to be housed.

The new house features a set of automatically operated blinds that prevent it from overheating when the sun is too hot for the plants together with a system that blows a continuous stream of cool air over the plants. The main design aim of the house is to allow maximum light transmission. To this end the glass is of a special low iron type that allows 90 per cent of the ultraviolet light in sunlight to pass. It is attached by high tension steel cables so that no light is obstructed by traditional glazing bars.

To conserve energy the cooling air is not refrigerated but is cooled by being passed through a labyrinth of pipes buried under the house at a depth where the temperature remains suitable all year round. The house is designed so that the maximum temperature should not exceed 20 °C (68 °F).

Kew's collection of alpine plants (defined as those that grow above the tree line in their locale – ground level at the poles rising to over 2,000 metres (6,562 feet)), extends to over 7000. As the Alpine House can only house around 200 at a time the ones on show are regularly rotated.

Took this shot on an earlier daily 'Lockdown Walk' 300m (822ft) above my home in the village of Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales.

Four miles North (centre right) is the coastal resort of Colwyn Bay. Two miles beyond is the limestone Little Orme's Headland overlooking Penrhyn Bay and in the middle distance the Irish Sea.

Because of our 'Unique Topography', with valleys to the open coastline and the steep surrounding hillsides, invariably several weather systems converge or one divides.

In my previous image posted of Moelfre Uchaf, taken half an hour earlier, the overhead clouds are proceeding due East powered by a Westerly airflow. Here, however, the much higher hillsides behind and to my left have divided the airflow sending these Cumulus Clouds North Easterly instead.

The red LED light on the foreground contrasted nicely against the green airflow. Kind of a holiday color theme ;)

Winter has finally arrived with a cold northerly airflow and overnight frosts. The black kale leaves hang down frozen solid but by the afternoon, they're all standing upright again.

A sudden mist mid-morning and pretty aerial perspective accompanies a southerly airflow and a lift in temperature.

Hummingbird Hawkmoth (Macroglossum stellatarum). Hummingbird Hawkmoth (Macroglossum stellatarum). An immigrant species to the UK which sometimes occurs in large numbers, especially if there's an extended period of warm weather or southerly airflow. It flies in the sunshine and hovers in front of flowers, sipping the nectar with its long proboscis, very much like the hummingbird which gives it its name. The larvae feed on bedstraw (Galium), and some of these may hatch and give rise to autumn adults in an influx year. Photo taken by Nick Dobbs, Buskett Gardens, Malta 17-02-2023

The Chrysler Airflow is a full-size car produced by Chrysler from 1934 to 1937. The Airflow was the first full-size American production car to use streamlining as a basis for building a sleeker automobile, one less susceptible to air resistance. Chrysler made a significant effort at a fundamental change in automotive design with the Chrysler Airflow, but it was ultimately a commercial failure due to a lack of market acceptance and controversial appearance.

Chrysler also marketed a companion model under the DeSoto brand, the DeSoto Airflow, and the appearance was also offered on the Chrysler Imperial. In 2022, Chrysler announced that the Airflow name would be resurrected for an electric crossover SUV.

Though its Airflow was a commercial failure, Chrysler’s brave attempt at innovation may well have been the most important mass-produced vehicle of the 1930’s. Not only did the Chrysler Airflow lead the way in terms of aerodynamics — “streamlining” as it was then called — it was also among the first cars to incorporate a lightweight construction that presaged today’s unibody vehicles.

The revolutionary concept was born when Chrysler engineer Carl Breer noticed the similarity between the shape of airplanes and birds, and he mused how archaic auto design was in comparison. With fellow Chrysler engineers Fred Zeder and Owen Skelton, he went to aviator Orville Wright, who understood more than a little about aerodynamics, to test models in a wind tunnel. The result was the Airflow’s ground-breaking streamlined design, which was sleeker, longer, and sat lower to the ground compared to other American cars.

The innovations didn’t stop there. By moving the engine over the front axle, the Airflow gained additional interior space, while seating passengers between the front and rear wheels improved ride quality. The Airflow was a technological marvel with automatic overdrive and raked “safety glass” windshield.

Introduced at the 1934 New York Auto Show, the eight-cylinder Airflow caused a sensation. Orders for the revolutionary car poured in, and the Airflow’s complex construction was rushed. It eventually required expensive new tooling, which caused major assembly delays. After the initial spurt, sales were slow, and Chrysler ceased production of the landmark model in 1937.

Despite the Airflow’s market failure, other manufacturers soon adopted the lighter weight steel body construction and better aerodynamics it pioneered. The spirit of the Airflow is a silent but important part of every car we drive today.

This was also the only time where I was actually able to get any of them actually doing their party trick. ALCOs are known for when you notch up rather aggressively, the turbos take a minute to spool up. This means that there's not enough airflow for the rate of combustion, resulting in the black cloud of smoke that they can produce that reminds people of the companies past of making steam locomotives. 10-22-21

The Skycarrier hosts a squadron of fighter and attacker aircraft, stored safely out of the wind and weather in a lightweight airframe.

Takeoff is normally into the wind from the forward deck, with landing operations clear at the stern. Emergency scrambles may be launched from both decks, however.

In normal operation, deployable spoilers extend from the landing deck to disrupt airflow over landed planes, allowing safe use of the elevator even at moderate airspeeds.

As New England prepares for another snow event, let’s look back on a day in July 2019 when the temperature was about 70° warmer than it is now. It was a hot and humid day; the temperature was 93°. Cape Cod Central’s dinner train passes by Hoxie Pond in East Sandwich, MA with Mass Coastal 2026 (ex-NH FL9M) leading. The door on the nose was propped open to allow airflow to the cab for the train crew, which proved to be controversial between railroaders and photographers. All I’ll say, it’s a shame these units don’t have A.C. and it’s unfortunate placement for a door.

This Shelby Daytona Coupe replica took second place in the Graham Hill Trophy race, and managed to pick up a little damage to the front wing along the way where it clipped the chicane.

It was the first time I'd seen this particular car in a bare metal finish, and like the Jamie McIntyre Bizzarrini, its an interesting look and gives you an appreciation for the workmanship that goes into forming those curves.

For those of you wondering about the tape on the front, its to reduce the airflow into the radiators, allowing the engine to reach optimal temperature quickly and maintain it throughout the race. There were a number of cars using this technique due to the ambient temperature being low (or bloomin' cold if you like).

The Kamov Ka-26 (NATO reporting name Hoodlum) is a Soviet light utility helicopter with co-axial rotors.

The Ka-26 entered production in 1969 and 816 were built. A variant with a single turboshaft engine is the Ka-126. A twin turboshaft-powered version is the Ka-226. (All the Ka-26/126/128/226 variants are code-named by NATO as "Hoodlum").

The fuselage of the Ka-26 consists of a fixed, bubble-shaped cockpit containing the pilot and co-pilot, plus a removable, variable box available in medevac, passenger-carrying and crop duster versions. The helicopter can fly with or without the box attached for flexibility.

It is powered by two 325 hp (239 kW) Vedeneyev M-14V-26 radial engines mounted in outboard nacelles.

The Ka-26 was used by some Warsaw Pact armies in the light paratroop or airborne role,[citation needed] but its slow (150 km/h) cruise speed compared with the Mil-2 (220 km/h) limits its military use. However, its shorter length (7.75 m) compared with the Mil Mi-2 (11.9 m) and smaller rotor diameter (13 m vs. 14.6 m) are advantageous when operating in an urban area. It has a longer range than the Mil-2 as well. The Ka-26 is eminently useful for crop dusting. The coaxial main rotor configuration, which makes the Ka-26 small and agile, also results in a delicate airflow pattern under the helicopter, providing a thorough, yet mild distribution of chemicals onto plants. The Ka-26 is often used to spray grape farms in Hungary, where conventional "main rotor and tail rotor" layout helicopters would damage or up-root the vine-stocks with their powerful airflow.[citation needed] Hungarian Kamov operators claim that coaxial rotors of the Ka-26 creates an airflow which allows pesticides to settle underneath, rather than on top of, the leaves, this means a much more effective distribution of pesticides, as most pests and parasites do not live on the top side of foliage. Additionally, the coaxial vortex system is symmetrical, allowing the distribution of the pesticide to be more uniform.

On 30 June 2020, Moldovan police and prosecutors closed down an illegal factory producing unlicensed copies of the Ka-26. The factory had a production line with ten air frames in various stages of completion that were intended for sale to clients in former Soviet countries.
