Created this poster for the AIGA who were celebrating an anniversary and asked 20 designers to design a poster for the event. Here was my contribution. Each was auctioned offed for the organization. I might have to turn this into an art print. Would you like it? I think it turned out pretty fun.
I recently spoke at the AIGA St Louis student conference. Made this fun 2 color poster. Grab one here: tadcarpenter.com/store/posters/aiga-st-louis-student-conf...

Higher up the valley,
three rivers become one.
As that river enters this gorge at the southern end, it is the River Glass.
The gorge disguises its flow.
As it leaves the gorge it becomes the River Beauly and its flow is considerable.
The autumn mist gradually clears.
The scents, the ambience, the spirits of the living trees,
make me feel part of nature, not a dangerous alternative.
Thank the Lord, that, like me, so many others value and protect, this, our natural heritage.
Poster for the cookout and party for AIGA members (and their dogs and small children). Who doesn't like an old cookbook?

This is my contribution to the 2005 AIGA student calendar, produced by graphic design students at colleges around northern Utah. Due to the printer backing out of the project (they were donating printing services, then they weren't. Nice) the calendar was never produced. C'est domage.
We all chose one week. I chose this week because August 7th is my anniversary.
I'm sure this needs an explanation...
The layout is a scatter graph w/o the index lines. The indices go like this:
Bottom to Top: Work -> Play
Left to Right: Nostalgia -> Anticipation
The sizes of the boxes indicate the significance of the day. Monday, of course, is smallest, and August 7th (anniversary) is the biggest. Thursday is always a significant day because of anticipation for the weekend. Weekends are never as good as they seem on Thursday so those days are smaller.
The colors/images are significant as well. They indicate activities or locations that I think fit with a more or less perfect week. In order:
Aug. 7th: A relaxing day in wine country.
Aug. 8th: Sleeping through Monday is always best.
Aug. 9th: Some kind of sporting event.
Aug. 10th: Outdoor concert (daytime).
Aug. 11th; Flop in a hammock and read a really awesome book.
Aug. 12th: Hang out at a beach.
Aug. 13th: A few too many glasses of Guiness (double vision ensues).
The Adobe Garamond Semi-Bold "august" in the lower left corner was unfortunately forced on us by the person who was orchestrating the project. He and some close aquaintenances decided to do that without consulting the rest of us. Needless to say, lots of folks in a number of different colleges were PISSED, myself included.
'Kay, hopefully now it makes a bit more sense.
