The original plan had been to for the second dive to be a trip to the Metridium Fields. However, a giant swarm of jelly fish became too much to handle so we turned back. On the way back we came across this Agregating Anemone on one of the smaller pipes. Photo taken with a Nikon D70, 105 mm, f18@1/250 sec (#17456)

Concrete aggregate consists of small pebbles specially selected for size and color from which forms are pulled while the surface is still susceptible to treatment. Wire brushing and acid washing are then used to expose the texture.

Fire at the Aggregate Industries quarry off of Piney Meetinghouse Road near Travilah, Maryland.
According to news sources, the fire involved two liquid asphalt tanks, one tank containing used motor oil, and various other miscellaneous equipment owned by the F.O. Day Bituminous Company, which has facilities on the site. Due to its being an oil fire, they couldn't use water on the flames, so they had to get a foam unit to come out from Dulles Airport to help extinguish the fire. The fire was completely out by the evening. Fortunately, everyone on site was safely evacuated, and no one was hurt. There was also no danger to the public or the surrounding area, and a fire department spokesman likened the smoke to a bad air quality day. So at the end of the day, it was only property damage, i.e. nothing that money can't fix.

A growing literature has documented that firm dynamics exhibit substantial differences in developed and developing countries. While there is a massive turnover of firms in developed countries, such a selection mechanism is largely absent in developing countries. Understanding the determinants of firm growth, factor reallocation, and firm-level productivity, as well as the link between firm and industry dynamics is key to shed light on performances of aggregate economies. This conference will have prominent researchers present their recent work on the subject and foster a conversation among scholars that use different approaches to understand firm and industry dynamics and their aggregate implications.

As the rumpus faces North-NorthWest we are planning on putting up a verandah to keep out the hot summer sun.
The slab has been laid so it is the same age and colour as the rest of the concreting.
It's a reasonable size as well - out about 3 metres.
A mossy concrete wall. It looks like the concrete wasn't mixed very well before it was poured. (125a)
