The Australian water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii), which includes the eastern water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii ) and the Gippsland water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii howittii ) subspecies, is an arboreal agamid species native to eastern Australia from Victoria northwards to Queensland.
Including their tails, which comprise about two-thirds of their total length, adult females grow to about 60 cm (2 feet) long, and adult males can grow slightly longer than one metre (39 inches) and weigh about 1 kg.
Australian water dragons are extremely shy in the wild, but readily adapt to continual human presence in suburban parks and gardens. They are fast runners and strong climbers. When faced with a potential predator, they seek cover in thick vegetation, or drop from an overhanging branch into water. They are able to swim totally submerged, and rest on the bottom of shallow creeks or lakes for up to 90 minutes, to avoid detection. (Wikipedia)

I was on my way out of Khao Sok National Park when I saw this forest crested lizard (calotes emma) on the side of a fallen tree trunk. It had been a long, hot trek through the jungle and the lizard was kind enough to move to the top of the trunk to give me a better shot!

We saw a number of lizards on our trip. I first identified it as a Oriental Garden, or Changeable, Lizard but I was informed via iNaturalist that I was wrong (so what is new?). There seems to be very little information about this particular species online. S/he was just enjoying the sun and ignoring the people.

Lophognathus species are slender, slightly compressed, agamid lizards that are often found in trees. They occur in a variety of habitat, including sand dunes and arid regions, but frequently near watercourses. Three species are endemic to Australia, L. burnsi, L. gilberti and L. longirostris; L. temporalis is found in both Australia and New Guinea.[2] The last species, L. maculilabris, is endemic to the Tanimbar Islands (Timor Laut).[3]
In Australia, these lizards are colloquially known as "Ta Ta" lizards, due to their habit of "waving" after running across hot surfaces.

The Starred Agama is a terrestrial lizard with a wide distribution that spans across parts of Asia, Europe and Africa. It is also known as the Roughtail Rock Agama.
Like many agamids, L. stellio can change its colour to express its mood. It basks on stone walls, rocks, and trees. It is usually found in rocky habitats, and is quite shy, being very ready to dive into cracks to hide from potential predators. This was one of many examples seen basking in the sunshine on the Greek island of Kos. Some were black, but were very camera-shy!

Oriental Garden Lizard, (Calotes versicolor) or Changeable Lizzard is an agamid lizard found widely distributed in Asia. It is an insectivore and the male gets a bright red throat in the breeding season.
The Changeable Lizard is relatively common and found in a wide range of habitats. They appear to adapt well to humans and are thus not endangered. They are commonly found among the undergrowth in open habitats including highly urban areas. Captured at Kimbulawala Sanctuary
The common garden lizard is the most common agamid of India. The garden lizard is an arboreal (found on trees) species and mostly prefers scrubland and undergrowth. It is excellently camouflaged in these habitats and can make itself almost invisible by staying very still. But if the camouflage fails, this feisty lizard can make a quick getaway with considerable speed, and being an excellent climber, can be up a tree in a jiffy!

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful lush forests and spectacular views. Sapan Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green mountains and lush natural landscapes. The waterfall is located deep in the mountains and is surrounded by lush tropical jungle, making for an enchanting landscape. To reach the waterfall, you must follow a path that winds through the lush jungle. It can be an adventurous journey, but the reward of reaching the waterfall is totally worth it. Along the way, enjoy the region's abundant flora and fauna, including exotic birds, reptiles, and wildlife. We encountered a Blue Crested Lizard on a tree in the undergrowth.
The Blue-Crested Lizard, also known as Calotes mystaceus, is a species of Dragon lizard that is found in province Nan of Thailand. As the name suggests, the Blue-Crested Lizard has a vibrant blue-colored crest on its head, which is more prominent in males. The rest of its body is usually green or brown, providing excellent camouflage among the vegetation. It has a slender and agile body, growing to an average length of around 30 to 40 centimeters, with the tail being longer than the body. These lizards are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend much of their time in trees and shrubs. They have strong limbs with sharp claws that enable them to climb and cling onto branches. They are also proficient jumpers and can swiftly move between trees. Blue-Crested Lizards are active during the day. They primarily feed on insects, such as crickets, grasshoppers, and beetles, but they may also consume small fruits and flowers. In Thailand, the Blue-Crested Lizard can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, gardens, agricultural areas, and urban green spaces. It is a common and widely distributed species, often encountered by locals. Observing the vibrant blue crest and the agile movements of the Blue-Crested Lizard can be an exciting experience for nature enthusiasts and reptile lovers. However, it's important to remember that these lizards are wild animals, and it's best to admire them from a distance without disturbing their natural behavior.
