The af Chapman, formerly the Dunboyne (1888–1915) and the G.D. Kennedy (−1923), is a full-rigged steel ship moored on the western shore of the islet Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden, now serving as a youth hostel.
The ship was constructed by the Whitehaven Shipbuilding Company, located in Whitehaven, Cumberland (present-day Cumbria), and launched in February 1888. It was originally known as Dunboyne, after a town in County Meath, Ireland. Its maiden voyage was from Maryport, Cumberland to Portland, Oregon and it subsequently made voyages between Europe, Australia and the west coast of America. On its arrival in Sweden in 1915 it was renamed G. D. Kennedy and when the Swedish Navy bought it in 1923 it was given its present name after the shipbuilder and Vice Admiral Fredrik Henrik af Chapman (1721–1808). The Navy used it as a training ship and as such it made several trips around the world before serving as a barracks during WW2. Its final voyage was in 1934.
In 1947 the Stockholm City Museum saved the ship from being broken up, and since 1949 af Chapman has been managed by the Svenska Turistföreningen (STF, Swedish Tourist Association). It serves as a youth hostel with 285 beds.

Nikkor AF 50mm f1.4 D was the lens I bought as a everyday lens for my old D600 SLR.. Autofocus was done by camera. Nikon Z line of cameras lost this ability so no AF for 50mm f1.4 D anymore.
It is based on and continuation of line of AI Nikkor fifties and share wit them optical design and aperture ring on camera. So, it is very capable MF lens when used with Zf.
Took a picture of this beauty today. Launched in February 1888 and 128 years later a popular hostel in Stockholm. Quite amazing. The Af Chapman, formerly the Dunboyne (1888–1915) and the G.D. Kennedy (−1923).
From today’s ATAAVI Bird Foundation bird walk at Saul Kere, Bangalore. The Ashy Prinia, restless, quick, and always a delight to watch as it flits through reeds and grasses.
Captured against the calm waters with Nikon D7500 + AF-S NIKKOR 200–500mm f/5.6E ED (f/5.6 | 1/1250s | ISO 640, cropped).
A moment of stillness amidst its usual restless energy.

The sailing ship Af Chapman is now one of Stockholm’s most unique hostels. It has been a famous landmark in Stockholm since 1937.

The story of this photo:
This is my latest macro shot. Over the last few weeks, I have been spending my time doing a lot of stuff that did not have too much to do with taking or editing photos. It did have to do with photography, but just not with the creative part of it. Anyway, yesterday, I got fed up with this stuff and I started messing around with my macro gear. The sun just went down and I found this tiny foilage with those delicate little hairs. I figured that this would look great against the sun. So, I got out my little syringe, applied a few droplets and took a whole bunch of shots with the sun in different spots relative to the foilage.
Initailly, I went with an aperture of f/20 to f/25 to get all of the leaves in focus. But that brought parts of the background too much into focus too. So, I went with f/8 which blurred the background entirely, and I took different shots with different foci. Then I used focus stacking in Photoshop to blend those images together. Et Voilà, subject in focus, background blurred.
And here is the lesson for you: Always know what you can do to an image in post-processing while you are shooting. This may help you solve problems and lets you create images that may be very difficult to create otherwise.
How it was shot:
> Taken with a tripod
> Three exposures - used focus stacking to bring the whole subject into focus
> Camera: Nikon D7000
> Lens: Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 105mm 1:2,8G VR
How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in Photoshop
> Topaz DeNoise
> Topaz Infocus for sharpening
> Topaz Details for bringing out the details in the petals and some basic color correction
> Saturation adjustent layer (master)
> Vibrance layer (vibrance)

On my current US road trip, I wanted to catch some Alpenglow. While having sunrise and sunset reds on sandstone (like in Arches NP), which brings out the reds indeed, a white, i.e.snowy, background does work nicely as well. Contrasting, blue sky. That was the goal.
Not being the luckiest with the weather, I basically had one shot about shooting a sunrise, prefixed by two hours of searching and settling for a place where an assumed sunrise might be seen nicely. So, the next morning, I went on a dirt road in Owen's Valley, ran around in the half-dark, avoiding all kinds of cow releases, finding a spot where I could get some interesting foreground, masking a bit the not-green grass. I liked the Owen's River being quite calm, and what I also liked were clouds in the sky giving the light some brightness variations when it hit the nearby mountains.
Afterwards, we continued to Yosemite Valley, but more on that in the coming pictures.
