Landscape in the uninhabited southern highlands of Iceland, looking east from the top on Mt. Valahnúkar (721 m). The mountains in the distance are Löðmundur and Sauðleysur, located in the protected area of Fjallabak. The "gargoyle" on the left is formed of wind-eroded hyaloclastite, or cemented volcanic ash and gravel, the dominant rock type in this area.
Nel mio dialetto, la parola ancarvarò indica un cielo pieno di nuvole in movimento, estremamente mutevole. E questo è il cielo tipico della primavera che, dopo il lungo inverno, sembra essere finalmente arrivata su queste colline.
In my dialect, the word ancarvarò indicates a sky full of moving clouds, extremely changeable. And this is the typical sky of spring which, after the long winter, seems to have finally arrived on these hills.

Snowy Egret
The Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) is a small white heron. It is the American counterpart to the very similar Old World little egret, which has established a foothold in the Bahamas. At one time, the beautiful plumes of the snowy egret were in great demand by market hunters as decorations for women's hats. This reduced the population of the species to dangerously low levels. Now protected in the United States by law, under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, this bird's population has rebounded.

She's the Wyvern af Åalesund. At 59 tons displacement this two-masted ketch was built by over 570 apprentices across Europe in a three year international training project beginning in 1992. After many years as a training vessel, she is now owned by the Nation of Norway and registered in Åalesund where she serves to promote tourism. We photographed her quayside in Åalesund Havn while on a short walk off the ship to grab a couple bottles of wine, some chocolate and have a bowl of ice cream... Good ice cream!
