Actually I bet this scene has nothing to do with winter driving, but everything to do with alcohol &/or testosterone poisoning making some kid think he could drive a jeep through a marsh. :-)
A flashback to Jan.2 when some big waves were rolling into the Southern California Coast and the surfers were stoked to be riding them.
Hanalei Bay -- Kauai -- Hawaii
This beautiful crescent shaped bay is the largest bay on the north shore of Kauai island in Hawaii. It has miles of sandy beaches, and served as a filming location for the 1958 film South Pacific and for the 2011 film The Descendants.

Mixed freight train 10N grinds through the big curve at milepost 131 along Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line at Newport PA in what was the start of a daylight snow storm that would bring several inches of snow to Central Pennsylvania.
A man digging clams at Ocean Beach. He watched to see when there was a lull in the large waves, and he was careful not to turn his back to the waves.
This was an unusual day at the beach with a combination of sunny warm temperatures, low wind, and high surf. Further south, the waves at Mavericks attracted surfers from Southern California and Hawaii, who said it was the best conditions they could remember, with offshore waves breaking at 50-60 ft (15-18 m). It has been a long time since I have seen waves this good at Ocean Beach.
Hope you have a good weekend ahead! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your support -- I greatly appreciate it.
Take extra care to stay safe.

The Naugatuck River bridge is barely visible, as train 1934 from Bridgeport to Waterbury breaks through the dense fog in Ansonia.
We typically have fun waves in the 2-3 foot range, but last weekend the National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory for waves 3 times that size. This brought out the A-Team of surfers to try to ride them.
Big waves = big wipeouts and I saw guys getting really hammered in those waves, but fortunately no one was injured while I was shooting.

HIs friends call him Gar and if there are big waves he paddles out, stands up on them and shreds them.
Northern Illinois was blanketed with some of the thickest fog I had ever encountered on this December morning in 2021. Driving in it is hard to describe in words. It was like trying to look straight up from under a hat brim. No matter how close moved my head forward, it always felt like something was blocking my upward view. Air temps were hovering around freezing and ice was accreting onto any forward exposed surface. Just south of Kankakee, I punched into clearer air and pulled into Chebanse to wait for my target. Checking out my car, I noticed my 1/8-inch diameter antenna had accumulated almost a 1/2-inch of ice on the front.
Anyway, after the morning hot shots had cleared the Mainline of Mid-America, A408 got the blessing from RTC to depart Otto. Here we see them rolling down the hill into Chebanse, marking the start of an all day 170-mile chase that ended in Kimmundy. These were fun days back when 408 was north of Champaign in daylight.
When I looked out the window this morning, I knew I had to get to the beach. After 5 days of much needed rain, the sun was out and the surf was up. This tight shot of Seal Rocks shows the power of the Pacific Ocean, but the snowy plover in the foreground don't seem to mind at all.
I hope you are not tiring of images of the Pacific Ocean -- I find it endlessly fascinating and it's so close! Have a happy Sunday!
Comments are always welcome and appreciated but please no Multiple Invites, Flickriver Badges or Animated Badges with your comment! I simply do not have the time to give them the attention they deserve.
Crystal Lake - Iowa
North Iowa will be experiencing some nasty hot and very humid conditions for the next several days. Temperature in the upper 90's, dew point in the 70's and little breeze until maybe Friday!
School doesn't start until Wednesday, but there were no kids swimming, no picnics or even boats on the lake!
Just me and the camera and lots of unwanted peace and quiet! LoL !

"High Surf" reported at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica, California.
"Surf" is the swell of the sea that breaks upon the shore. "High Surf" is defined as large waves breaking on or near the shore resulting from swells spawned by a distant storm. A High Surf Advisory is issued when breaking wave action poses a threat to life and property within the surf zone.
Went for my bike ride early this morning to avoid the south wind and heat, and all I got was heavy fog!! The trail was beautiful wrapped completely in fog!!!
Happy Windmill Wednesday!
I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
We are suppose to travel 4 hours, depending upon the snowfall.
