Here is a shot from nearly the same time from last year.
I think I have really improved as a photographer this year. I have learned so much, been able to take different opportunities, and even just think of photography in a completely different way.
That being said, I don't think there is much I would change in this image. With THAT being said, I'll admit that I can't locate the original RAW file and it eats me up inside.
With much better PS-skills than a year ago, I would love to take a crack at this one again but because I can't, it was a good reminder of why file management is so important. I am glad to say I have a much better system now.

I needed a quick break from doing images of people so I dug into the archives and came across this image of Moraine Lake from this past summer.
We drove for 9 hours from Regina directly to Moraine Lake. Then we went to our campsite. Then we went to Lake Louise. It was a really busy day. After we hit Louise, we went back to camp and went to bed.
We then rose up at 4:30 am. We made it to Moraine Lake by about 5:30 am. We ended up staying until about noon and packed it up to go home.
It was a very short trip, that is for sure. It was definitely worth it. I have never been to a more beautiful lake (yet).

I am preparing for an upcoming exhibition and starting printing off some of my work from this year.
This is the Great Sandhills of Saskatchewan near Leader at the end of July. Such an incredible place to visit and spend some time.
Printed on matte photo paper, 13" x 19" and mounted on foam core. Note the $2 coin denoting the scale.
It is propped up on a small black shadow box and lit with two lights each through white umbrellas in a horizontal clam-shell orientation.

Here lies the highway from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Buffalo Pound Provincial Park.
What started out as a really chilly, windy, snowy, and rainy day, actually turned into a very nice sunny day. Frozen roads turned into puddled pathways through the prairie.
I stopped to get a shot of the reflected clouds in the puddles on the road. I wanted a thin depth of field to get the background to blur.
I wanted more focus on the foreground and just ease the eye down further into the image instead of keeping everything crisp.

It was a beautiful day in southern Saskatchewan yesterday, which is strange this time of year. Usually, there is snow everywhere, blistering winds, and not much to go outside for unless you're really bundled up.
We were in the area of Nicolle Flats in Buffalo Pound Provincial Park and came across a few patches on these shrubs. There were leaves only on the tops of these twigs, if any at all. Atop a series of twigs were these small bunches of leaves and hairs.
I found it strange, I am not sure if it is something biological with the plant itself or perhaps had some other type of intervention, perhaps animals or insects.
Nonetheless, it was very enjoyable to be out in the sun and spend some time with Saskatchewan.
