The Milky Way is slowly setting in the North now that summer is coming to an end. Before shooting deep sky imagines near Banff I decided to head over to the popular Vermillion Lakes shooting spot. Besides for the smell of sulfur bubbling up through the lake the night was calm and soothing. Mars shinning brightly never disappoints.

Astia film simulation. Converted from a raw file to jpg using camera specific Astia profile in Lightroom. No adjustments or cropping - real Fuji colors, real resolution.

There's quite a lot color banding in SOOC JPGs. Probably caused by the chroma subsampling in these JPGs (some color information is lost).

Better quality can be achieved if you create the JPG from a raw (RAF) file in post-process (Fuji RAW Studio, Capture One, Adobe LR/PS).

But wasn't the whole point of Fuji "color science" that you can get "ready" pictures straight from the camera (that is, JPGs)?

Nice evening thought, I liked this calm evening and took lots of pictures.

This was part of an HDR I did a while back but I attempted a tilt-shift effect. It's pretty over-saturated. I think it's necessary to make it look all small and stuff.
