Worker uses hoist to attach antlers to head of large toy reindeer . . . part of a holiday display in Riverside Park at La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA.
These photos chronicle the making of an adjustable stem. Someone contacted me from another state wanting a stem to help him fit his tandem better. I thought I would make an adjustable stem so he could dial in the fit and send it back so I could measure and make a final version. Well, it's been a journey!
Since this will live it's life as a tool for fitting bikes, I didn't spend as much time on the finish work as I would a real stem that was going to live on a bike. The adjustable version is heavy, clunky and extreme. The real one will be elegant, sleek and strong.
