One of my attempts for the Macro Monday theme 'Single Use'.

Sometimes this adhesive tape doesn't even get to where it was meant to be because I ruin it on the way there

HMM to all participants. 💙💙💙

Some consider these things to be the most important technical inventions of mankind. And I tend to agree...

Temperance Street now has two beautifully restored vintage buildings.

There is a little story that goes with this picture: During summer vacation between the last two years of school, Secretary and a good friend went on a long trek through southern Germany to acquaintances near Munich. It was a tour that made for lasting memories, such as the "celebration" of Secretary's eighteenth birthday at a youth hostel.

Shortly before leaving, Secretary's grandfather (who found it almost unbelievable that young people still did such things) had put a bill in Secretary's hand to buy a nice souvenir from it in Munich. And Secretary had immediately known what this souvenir would be: a Swiss Army knife just about suitable for daily carry.

For many years, Secretary always carried it on his belt (he still does, but today it is a different and even larger one, after all, Secretary has also increased in size), including during visits to the theater and opera. The teasing of his friends, for what one would need pliers at a concert, for example, ended the day when the zipper of a fellow student's jacket got stuck as she was about to hand it in at the checkroom.

With this toolbox on his belt, his highly valued HP pocket calculator and a few other useful helpers, the future engineer felt up to just about any practical task in life...

I can't think of anything more indispensable for wrapping a gift than a roll of adhesive tape.

I've watched "Barbarella" for the very first time together with my two stepsisters when I was ten or eleven. It was Saturday (back then, I spent every weekend at my father's). My Dad and stepmother sometimes visited friends on a Saturday night, and apparently we three girls were deemed old enough – we are very close in age, my older stepsister is only 10 month older and and my younger stepsister 6 months younger than me – to stay "Home Alone". I don't remember what the parental orders for our "girl's night in" were, but I'm absolutely sure that watching late night sci-fi movies wasn't included on the "OK list" – so that was precisely what we did ;) And boy were we terrified by that scene at the beginning of the movie, where Barbarella crash-lands on Tau Ceti's 16th planet and gets attacked by those nasty children with their killer dolls with those razor-sharp metal teeth.

So what does innocent sellotape in a tape dispenser has to do with a freaky sci-fi movie from the love and peace era (love, mostly, when it comes to Barbarella)? Well, first of all this is double-sided adhesive tape – which isn't nearly as innocent as one might think. It can be very handy, yes, but only after you've managed to handle it without getting stuck to every single surface where you don't want it to stick. And then... I wasn't even sure what to expect when I decided to photograph the tape dispenser, the spikiest thing I could find at home. I only thought that it might look interesting with those arrows printed on the edge of the tape. But don't you agree that the spikes of that small (1,4 cm / 0,55 inches wide) cutter knife look like teeth and the arrows and that rectangle look like eyes and a nose? And there they were, those nasty dolls... ;)

Processed entirely in DXO PhotoLab4 with some extra local adjustments on the "teeth" ; I've also again applied a film simulation in DXO FilmPack, Agfa Precisa 100, and I still tweaked the colours a little. It's a single shot; I've also tried some focus stacking, because the arrows look interesting with those tiny printing dots, but since it's all about the spikes this time, I thought I'd leave them blurred – I think it also adds a sense of motion and of that crazy frenzy of that doll scene.

HMM, Everyone, have a nice week ahead and stay safe!

This is the softbox used in the previous shot (15/365) "No Bratwurst Today". It's small - 30x20x30cubic cm. Diffusor is made of multiple layers of cellulose fibre non-woven material. The inside has a silver reflection surface made of a cut up aluminium packaging bag attached with the same adhesive tape you can see on the outside. The box is attached to the SB910 by sticking the flash through a hole in the bottom and securing it with a 2€ gel adapter I had. The whole thing is mounted on a light stand with the SB910 accessory foot screwed onto a Manfrotto light stand grip bit. As you can see it needed some extra adhesive tape to stay in the right position - but hey it's a prototype and I am most definitely no handyman!

Tomorrow I might try with a bigger box. Only a 5 minute build :)

My coin purse has come unglued so I'm fixing it with double sided Mammoth tape. It's very strong, one wants to get it right first time - which I didn't. It was a job to get it apart and re-fix it .

It's so sticky that it's quite hard to cut with scissors. I'm using the scissors on my Swiss Army Knife to peel the backing tape off the sticky stuff.

Holiday by the sea is over, TK455 and TK479 are back to work. And they're busy.
