Memories from the past.

It’s been 12 years since I encountered these ladies in Lhasa, Tibet and yet this photo still warms my heart. I found the Tibetans to be a friendly and helpful people, as are most of the folks I have met on my travels.

Tibet:

The Tibetan people are an East Asian ethnic group native to Tibet. Their current population is estimated to be around 6.7 million. In addition to the majority living in Tibet Autonomous Region of China, significant numbers of Tibetans live in the Chinese provinces of Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Yunnan, as well as in India, Nepal, and Bhutan.

Lhasa is the second most populous urban area on the Tibetan Plateau after Xining.

At an altitude of 3,656 meters (11,990 ft), Lhasa is one of the highest cities in the world. The city has been the religious and administrative capital of Tibet since the mid-17th century. It contains many culturally significant Tibetan Buddhist sites such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka Palaces.

Tibet is the highest region on Earth, with an average elevation of 5,000 m (16,000 ft) Located in the Himalayas, the highest elevation in Tibet is Mount Everest, Earth's highest mountain, rising 8,848 m (29,029 ft) above sea level.

Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, lies on the Lhasa River's north bank in a valley of the Himalayas. Rising atop Red Mountain at an altitude of 3,700 m, the red-and-white Potala Palace once served as the winter home of the Dalai Lama. The palace’s rooms, numbering around 1,000, include the Dalai Lama’s living quarters, as well as murals, chapels and tombs.

Had a talk with my old man

Said, "Help me understand"

He said "Turn 68, oh, you'll re-negotiate"

"Don't stop this train"

Don't for a minute change the place you're in

And don't think I couldn't ever understand

I tried my hand

John, honestly we'll never stop this train"

Cause now I see, I'm never gonna stop this train

Never gonna stop this train.

Stop This Train - John Mayer / Where The Light Is (Live in Los Angeles), Cd 1 / (2008)

.....

I have always lived in houses, which were very close to the sea and also very close there was a railway line. I have always liked to see a train pass or hear its sound. When I was little and left school, we would go to the railways, close to home, to throw stones at the freight wagons of the freight trains that came down and brought salt from the Súria and Cardona mines, to be loaded onto ships in the port of Barcelona. In addition to throwing stones at it, we counted the number of wagons the locomotive was carrying. Possibly, this train loaded with salt, its schedule was around 1 noon and not at 2:10, like the song written by Albertano and sung with that special voice by Taj Mahal, whom I consider the best bluesman, with permission from B.B. King.

We spend a part of our childhood on the railroad tracks, between abandoned wagons and freight trains. And the port and the sea in summer. Unforgettable days.

There was a day, when several locomotives united, transported many wagons. We count more than a hundred. They seem like a lot to me, but the mind of a child, when he is a child, is a little messy. They talk and think in such a way that it seems they are a little crazy. But they are not. I don't know if it was really more than a hundred wagons that we counted. Possibly we miscounted. But that day... that day was a truly unforgettable "orgy" of stone throwing.

On this railway line, some people died who did not hear the locomotive arrive. And even some person committed suicide, stretched out on the tracks while the railroad came at full speed, without the possibility of stopping. While i'm listening to "Mystery Train" by The Neville Brothers, with this lilting rhythm, imitating the sound of a railway, I remember the kind locomotive driver, who when he saw us, he would sound the train's horn, say hello to us and reduce the speed of the locomotive, so that we had more time to throw stones. We were not hooligans. We were just... children playing .

Never let a train get away from you. And much less, those trains that suddenly appear and cross our lives. Get on all the trains you find, even if they are mysterious... because life is a mystery train, you never know where it will take you.

.....

Cause now I see, I'm never gonna stop this train

Never gonna stop this train.

Well I woke up this morning and the sun refused to shine.

Til I hear the 2:10 train.

A cemetery is a sacred place where dead relatives, relatives and friends are buried. It has long been customary to mark their burials with remarkable signs. Christians set up a cross for this. Where did this tradition come from?

What does history say?

Initially, the tomb cross on the grave was the designation of one or more burials. After the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, it acquired a sacred meaning.

Interestingly, in the Roman Empire, death on the cross was considered the most shameful and terrible execution. Such a sentence was given to malicious violators: thieves, murderers and traitors. The criminals died a painful death. They suffered from pain, heat, thirst and annoying insects.

The concept that the body of the deceased is in the earth, and the soul in heaven, appeared in the 5th century. The grave was decorated with a cross depicting the living Christ. After the death of Jesus, a crucifix with a resurrected teacher began to be placed on the cross. In addition, there were a wreath of thorns, blood, etc. Only by the 10th century did Orthodox believers accept the death of Christ and began to portray him as dead.

I personally am far from religion... Epidemics, wars, natural disasters... the funeral business is flourishing... those who buried their relatives and friends understand me.

Gallotia galloti palmae, in La Palma. In addition to Gallotia galloti, it is sometimes called "smut lizard". The blight lizard can reach 30 cm in length. Males are somewhat larger than females and have a blue patch on their faces. Black lizard (Gallotia galloti) The black lizard is a very abundant reptile in the Canary Islands, especially in agricultural areas and coastal scrubland. It prefers dry and sunny places, such as rocky areas, especially rock walls, and avoids the laurel forest area. It can live up to 3,000 m above sea level, so it can be found at almost any altitude. Forest roads are a favorable habitat for this species, since it also uses them to move around, as it allows it to stay in the sun during its walks. Being a poikilothermic animal (that is, cold-blooded), it requires clear places where it can warm up on the rock, until it reaches a body temperature that allows it to be active. Feeding Their diet is based on plants and insects; sometimes it eats the grapes cultivated by man, for which it is subject to persecution.

In recent years numbers have declined dramatically. Fortunately in Scotland they are still a common bird.

What is it, an eyesore

In addition to the previous shot... here is the bittern with its head pointing straight up. What I was astonished to notice was the position of its eyes! It is still looking straight at me! (See Large for the eye view).

In addition to the Long-billed dowitchers, one greater and four lesser yellow legs were working the same mud flat. The Greater yellow leg providing an opportunity to compare the two species. For identification of the Greater, I hang my hat on it's two toned billed. For me size does not help unless one has both species present for comparison. One of the Lessers for tomorrow. Market Lake WMA, Robert's, Idaho.

PS Two Flickr friends pointed out the length of the bill was the most helpful distinguishing feature aside from size. The bill of the greater is approximately 1.5 times the length of the head with the lesser's bill length equal to the head length.

The shiney new addition to the London skyline known as The Walkie Talkie overshadows older brother Mr Lloyds of London in the insurance sector of the city..i'm still not sure about this one, and a stark contrast to my personal fave, The Gherkin :-)

In addition to the Yellow-rumped Warblers, we saw a lot of Cedar Waxwings eating the Cedar berries. In fact that is where part of their name comes from. From allaboutbirds.org: "The birds’ name derives from their appetite for cedar berries in winter." The bird pictured here is an immature bird as evident by the prominent streaking on the breast and faint looking black mask as compared to an adult. Anoka County, MN 10/04/20

Stunning building in which we can appreciate from Mudejar to Romanesque and Gothic and Almohad artistic styles.

In addition, this building, the royal pantheon of Castile, houses the museum of royal fabrics, which are fragments of the clothing, in the case of D. Fernando de la Cerda, first-born son of Alfonso X, the entire trousseau, which have been extracted from the tombs. So that, we see now how exactly they dressed in the 13th century.

Beautiful graves, beautiful church, a Romanesque cloister and a Gothic cloister, history everywhere, something that should be a world heritage site.

The latest addition to my night captures takes in the Thai capital of Bangkok. Here we visit the Chinatown area of the city. In the day a mecca of fresh produce, at night the hawker stalls fill the air with fantastic aromas from Asian cuisine.

Variation in lines and planes, but also in color - that is the concept of the Caméléon-design.

A new addition to my series Lines and planes.

It's about surprising compositions in the everyday, a special view of buildings, interiors ... lines made abstract.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
