This is Tony Brown waiting for the freezing fog to break so he could capture this scene

There were times we could just make out the tors in front of us

There is something special about images with people in extreme environments that challenges me

My photography and the images I daydream of , take me on some of the most interesting/even exciting journeys of my life.

I spent nights out under the Milky Way exploring new places in the dark ,experiences money can`t buy.

I don`t consider myself out there [may be some others do] but I don`t want to miss out on these experiences

Just because we are getting older doesn`t mean we can`t do this

I did my first overnight backpack and my first snowshoe hike out to Seaman`s Hut in August last year and I have done multiple back packs since then

Its addictive ..... a natural high

And this is nothing compared to mountain climbers

It has crossed my mind that some of you live in these conditions for part of the year and others for lengthy periods and it would be very normal dealing with it on a daily basis

For many of us it challenges what is normal and safe

I worked in a ski resort for 5 months ,Les Trois Vallees in France 21 years ago but you still have infrastructure all around you [unless you go off piste] , unlike when you head out into wilderness areas in pursuit of our passion

You also need to be properly prepared and understand the environment and your limitations ,practice in a safe area and take someone experienced with you

Hopefully this inspires you too

This is a two shot stitch

This day began with heavy fog and little promise of a bright new day. Patience was rewarded with a nice replication of Mt. Rainier in Reflection Lake as the fog lifted and a beautiful new day arrived. This is why photography can be addictive for so many of us.

Enjoy a wonderful Easter!

The golden fluffster and I have been scampering about the the online realms soaking up the springtime beauty this weekend, playing the he loves me he loves me not game with the daisies we picked from Bambi’s meadows, and feeling very colorful thanks to this insanely gorgeous tattoo I just can’t stop wearing from Hades/Corazon! Hades, your inky beauties are as addictive as candy! Thankfully, we can wear them all, though not all at once!

And … I have done something to my back so the only scampering I’m doing at the moment is the virtual kind. How did I manage to injure myself? No, not a horse riding mishap or a weird sporting accident. I tell ya, I’ve managed to cause myself excruciating pain by throwing a plush toy down the hallway to my Corgi, and in a weird freak moment I totally pulled something in my lower back. I’m not impressed with myself at the moment!

I hope everyone has a wonderful new week ahead, and be very careful throwing toys to your pups! Sending love 💖💞❤️

And yes, I leave marks! Even the ones you can't see!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is an orange day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesday is oil on water. And Mr. Teddy Bear has a very busy day at work (since he left earlier yesterday to bring the keys to Red Lady he has to make up for that time today…) so he will not be able to attend Happy Teddy bear Tuesdays this week (but dont you worry, he will be back next week !!).

Oil on water photography is truly a very, very addictive thing… I took at least 500 pictures of oil on water for this challenge. And when you add a led backlight it becomes so futuristic !! Keep in mind that no Photoshop was used in this picture … it is only water + oil + backlight + extension tubes. I only enhanced orange shades and tones for the color of the day.

Isn't that fascinating to see all the textures and details from my backlight mixing with oil and water ? I was almost hypnotized !!

I hope you like it as much as I do !! See you soon my friends !

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

It's addictive to look around the corners.

For Crazy Tuesday's Song Title Theme.

The Red & The Black is a song by one of my favourite bands growing up, Blue Oyster Cult.

It is also a song title by Iron Maiden. And apparently a song from Les Miserables, but I've never heard that. Popular title it seems.

So, I wanted to try the iPad/Lensball photography thing for a while now & finally got around to it. That's my iPad providing the light with a bright red screen at back and the lens ball in front, taken in a totally dark garage. It is quite addictive, and I have many shots with backgrounds ranging from a single colour, to some of my landscape shots, to some fractals generated in apps, all with differing angles through the Lensball. Think I'm addicted, there will be more ;)

Hit "L" to be absorbed into the red and black , if you dare 👹

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is: balancing act.

How awesome is that ?

We all know by now that balancing acts are one of my obsessions. All balancing acts are very addictive for me. And once I have picture of a balancing act in my head, I have to get it out of my system no matter what (or the time of the night or day). And since I studied an immense number of balancing acts, I developed a theory to a perfect balancing act, which I will describe here for you my friends … but dont worry, you don’t have to read or take notes, my picture explains it all.

For a perfect balancing act you will need, something very sturdy, something very fragile and a third item which has nothing to do with the 2 others…

For my today’s balancing act I choose:

-an egg (my favorite) as a fragile item,

-an elephant as a sturdy part of my balancing act. Keep in mind that elephants are the best in balancing acts !! They have a low gravity point so they can balance their body in almost any position … ! But be carful, dont let any mouses approche the balancing elephant or it will quickly become a very hazardous situation for everyone !!

-a green bike as my « it has nothing to do with anything » item… in my opinion, bicycles are great for balancing. Especially the green ones ;-).

Et voilà !

The only thing left to do is to put the items one on another and try to keep everything in balance ;-) !

Let me know if you try my recipe for the perfect balancing act.

I wish you all a beautiful day !! See you later my friends !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Taken (hurriedly) for Looking Close on Friday. Don't try these !

Night street photography has a certain addictive appeal.

Not withstanding the inherent dangers, there is an atmosphere unique to this environment.

The B&W harmonics seem reversed when composing and the geometrics become an entity in and of themselves.

~ My Own Prison ~ Poem by me 04.23.13

I stood at the edge of the riverbank,

But instead of feeling the familiar lank,

I sensed a smile--unexpectedly wide--

Looking at my old prison on the other side.

I have been here a few times before,

Standing by the boat I found on that other shore.

Sometimes rowing there but still returning,

A quick trip to stall an addictive dark yearning.

But today my old prison gleamed in the sunlight,

The worn red bricks shimmering just right,

Looking so peaceful from afar, from the outside.

I just didn't need to take a boat ride...

Quietly, I untied the rope and let the boat go...

And I could swim there but I won't for now; I know.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today we had a yellow day at Color my World Daily and « treats » are the theme at theme at the fabulous *ღღ* Cosas de casa *ღღ Group.

So let me introduce to you one of my favorite childhood treats : krówki, which means « little cows » (and NO those candies aren’t made from cows !)… Every Pole knows those candies very well. Krówki (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krówki) are the Queens of Polish candies (yes, Wolfgang_L (www.flickr.com/photos/wolfgang_l) I know you prefer Ptasie Mleczko (another Polish treat) but little cows are very, very good also !!). They were very, very popular during my childhood in Poland and since then I can’t resist when I see one (which happens like once a week since I go to the Polish store once a week..).

Little cows are a semi-soft milk toffee candies and they taste like heaven (kind of). Little cows contain at least 11 non essential nutriments and surely some « secrets » ingredients which help with getting you addicted to this paradise tasting candies !!

But beware of little cows’ they are highly addictive and even a small piece has enough calories to feed you for a day (so if you are on a diet, I advise against eating little cows but yet, who am i to judge ???).

Note: as you can see several little cows went MIA during this photoshoot….I don’t know what to say…. I strongly suspect the cow….

Happy CMWD and happy CDC to all participants !! And for the rest of us : happy day !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and healthy!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a black and white day at Color my world Daily and we celebrate Sliders Sunday.

My weekend was super busy but very cool !! It was almost back to pre-pandemic era normal ! We had lots of kids over (my sons’s friends), my parents came and we had a power shortage !! I know that putting two exclamations points after a « power shortage » makes it feel like something very positive but in the end it was ! We had a BBQ with candles and lots of gin and tonic. It is hot as hell in Montreal right now so spending a night without AC was truly difficult but luckily for us the electricity came back just in time.

Today is my running day so I feel like this egg: I’m set free to go ! Since it is very hot, I will run inside. So far I did 295,2km this month and I hope I will get me badge (I know it is very insignificant but I have a very addictive personality !!) and be able to get to 400km until the end of this month…

Once again, with the power being out for more than 3 hours, I didn’t had the time to answer your comments. I will catch up as soon as possible…

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! And see you soon !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !

... this always amazes me ... you're in a beautiful unique surrounding and then continiously look at your phone ? ...

All the details SimplyAnafied

This was taken at Isthmus of Corinth aka the Corinth Canal. Recently I got me a Helios 44M, 58mm F2 lens and I was set to test it and see how it performs. It's a full manual lens, coming from Russia and mainly used to be a kit lens for old Zenit cameras. Its production began round 1958 if I'm correct. Probably the most mass produced lens ever made. It has a distinctive swirly bokeh, gorgeous colors and relatively good resolution for its age. Speaking of age, this particular one I got, is dated from 1979, pretty much 40 years ago!

Yet it really performs well. Especially if you take under consideration that it had to prove its value on a 42mp camera body! It's a fast and very sweet lens. Focusing ring is smooth and Its color reproduction is quiet good. It doesn't produce those oversaturated colors one would see from modern lenses, yet to me that's a plus, cause that's exactly why it gives good leeway and quiet a lot of color grading options in post. It's quiet soft, not so sharp, especially at f2, but it's not something to bother (me at least) and it also can easily be corrected in post with a little added contrast. Manual focusing can get tricky at times but hey, autofocus was not a thing back in 1979! And have I told you I'm a manual kind of guy myself?!

One other quirk is it's 58mm instead of the nifty fifty we are used to as "normal". I guess Russians believed 58mm was closer to how the human eye sees rather than 50mm. Ohhh well, I think I can easily use this to my advantage, for I can get slightly better bokeh out of it and it's more convenient for portraits! And on a full frame camera, that's not as much more "tight" frame compared to the 50mm either! It is tighter but not so much that I can't compensate with a step or two backwards! And to be honest I've come to love its bokeh after I've seen my initial shots from that day! It is smooth and at times, given the right distances, it gets swirly which can get addictive!

All in all, I can tell you this lens is a lens with distinct character! If it matches your taste in color reproduction and sharpness and you don't mind manual focusing, you can get quiet extraordinary pictures with it. And for the price, it certainly is a bargain!

loneliness is dangerous. It is addictive. Once you realise how peaceful and quiet your life can be, you will avoid many people in the future.

Really stuck when trying to find something magnetic around the house until I remembered these magnetic scrabble letters!

It’s amazing to find the beautiful reflections in the raindrops.

Keys that can be of great help to make your life easier, can also drag you to alien worlds... Keys and the machine behind them can be addictive. Beware of them.

My first texture job - I'm not sure if it succeeds or not but it's certainly an addictive new toy!

I have been having WAY too much fun with WOMBO Dream! Rather addictive with all the iterations of a work you can create. Mine usually do turn out strange, to say the least, but I probably don't put in the same word pointers that others might choose. :)

The bodycon dress has become so popular and addictive that it will never goes out of style. This Cosmos Merle Bodycon Dress is one such design statement and example here in Second Life.

As a bodycon party dress kind of person, I can relate to it in just about every single way. I love how it fits my curves flawlessly and how the top with its long sleeves and neckline works seamlessly into the overall look and vibe of this stunning outfit.

This Cosmos Merle Bodycon Dress' Fatpack offers 10 different solid colors plus 4 dot-patterned options within its HUD.

It fits Maitreya Lara, Reborn (+Juicy), Kupra, and Legacy mesh bodies.

This outfit is available at the Swank Winter Wonderland December Sales Event. Check out the free gifts at the booths!

I did get some misty shots about a year ago that I'm really happy with but being so addictive I'd like to achieve it again.

I'm really kicking myself as I was going to go on Wednesday but I was feeling really fatigued with a bit of a stomach bug so I decided to skip. Of course the socials lit up around 8am with the castle floating in a sea of mist!!

I was gutted but the weather forecast was virtually the same the following morning so I was determined to go. There was mist swirling around on the drive down so I was really hopeful but when I got there it was pretty disappointing, although I did get some nice misty shots over the fields.

Frustrating but its very rewarding if you do get it right! A hand held shot with some nice light on the way down.

another (addictive) Midjourney with PS

Another misty rolling field shot at dawn. It's getting quite addictive now :)

Another artwork in the somewhat addictive pano-sabotage mode. Taken indoors again - in this case one of the bedrooms - the original photos have been heavily recoloured and a texture added.

The hair is Raven Bell from the Crystal Heart event - it's amazing, it's animated, it took me hours to decide on which pose to use, it's addictive, you have been warned, carry on.

Now that we can leave the house, a get away to Lancelin sounds like just the ticket. The township of Lancelin is one of Western Australia’s best kept holiday secrets. Visitors fall fast for its crisp white dunes, clean beaches and relaxed seaside lifestyle. But be warned: visiting Lancelin is addictive, here you can go fishing, go dolphin-spotting or sandboarding in the enormous sand dunes.

I went sandboarding in Lancelin; what a hoot. Any lightweight board will do, wax the underside, sit down, a quick shove and you'll be hurtling down the hill. When you stop, climb back to the top of the hill and repeat. It's the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on.

Betel chewing is a wide-spread tradition across South-East Asia. There are three main ingredients - betel nut (from the areca tree), betel leaf (a pepper vine) and slaked lime. Many countries have developed their own traditions including highly decorative equipment and containers for the leaves, lime and nuts as well as other flavourings such as tobacco, cardamom and cinnamon. This container was probably used for lime and comes from Indonesia.

Betel chewing creates massive health and social problems. Although it induces feelings of euphoria and well-being, it is highly addictive and the key ingredients are carcinogenic, linked to a prevalence of oral cancer and fibrosis and reproductive problems including low-birth weight.

Another bubble bokeh macro capture... a new toy is addictive, at least for me.

Have a nice day, dear friends! ;-)
