A second trip to Southern California proved to be an expensive one..
I spent about a week trapsing around California and Nevada on this one, just basically living that Socal life of hanging by the ocean, seeing punk rock shows, riding the motorcycle through the mountains and desert and enjoying the company of a beautiful curvy blonde.
In this case, the motorcycle is a rented Africa Twin from Motoquest in Long Beach. I had heard about Motoquest from my travels in Alaska, and was thrilled to find out they had expanded to doing rentals in several cities on the west coast, along with various guided tours. While I couldn't afford to have a bike for a full week, I wanted to spend at least a day or two on one to really get the most that Southern California offers. While on the phone with Motoquest to set up the rental, I'd planned on renting a smaller, more "basic" bike.. that was at least, till Toni casually mentioned they'd just gotten in a pair of then new (stateside) Africa Twins to their rental fleet. These bikes were a HOT commodity, and I HAD to try one.. 24 hours with this steed and I was in LOVE, which led me to purchasing a brand new one 6 months later right after I paid off my student loans.. Responsibility isn't very punk rock..
Anywho, here my rented Africa Twin is, perched over Cajon Pass as a BNSF train rumbles by below.
