Last night was clear sky and auroraforecast showed good promises. I expected more, but not always can be perfect auroras. It was freezing becouse of the strong wind from the north. Auroras are always nice to watch and more nice to capture on picture.

CP 3002 leads the J21 south through Golden Valley as they approach the stop sign protected diamond that goes over the UP industrial lead. Still nice to see this GP38 roaming the rails.
I visited Lock and Dam No. 14 (LD14) in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, based on a weather forecast predicting a sunny day, even though the Mississippi River hadn’t frozen yet. It turned out to be an incredible day, with nearly nonstop eagle activity during a two-hour window—reminiscent of the glorious days at LD14 before the island trees were cut down. At times, I missed capturing shots by just a split second, unsure of which eagle to follow. Occasionally, they flew so close that they didn’t fit within the camera frame. I’m still learning to make the most of my equipment.
A few days ago we had the extremely rare opportunity to see the Northern Lights in The Netherlands with super strong solar activity. This photo was captured in the North along the coast of Den Oever. I had been wanting to capture the Aurora in my homeland since forever, and I am glad I finally did it!
