Some action in the Port of Tacoma, WA on a very cold and clear December evening. I nearly froze my fingers in just a few minutes so the Longshoremen must be really prepared for this. It's a 4 shot HDR in Lightroom that tamed the crazy bright lights and contrast.

As a westbound Utah Railway coal train crosses over to Main 1 at URJ (Utah Railway Junction) near Martin, Utah, a set of light helpers led by venerable Rio Grande SD40T-2 No. 5371 waits on Main 2 on October 24, 2007. Five six-axle Utah Railway locomotives rumble over the crossover working as on a mid-train helper on the westbound load going up Price River grade toward Soldier Summit.
Out of all the times I've been to the UP Bloomington Yard I never caught this in action and this day I finally got to. 12/3/16

RHTT season again! 37069, with 37422 on the rear, powers away from its pathing stop at Ely running as 3S01 0922 Stowmarket to Stowmarket via various Anglia routes.
This male Bearded Tit / Reedling looks about to dart off on some daring escapade, maybe it is the striking moustache that makes me think that.
This chap had particularly dark irises (not often seen in the species) which added to the dashing look.

It is alwasys great to see a Red-bellied woodpecker but when you also catch that tongue out just a bit, it is magic. I saw this gal along Galloway Creek at the Springfield Nature Center.
