Often seen "doing the splits" as each foot grasps a different stem, Marsh Wrens are tiny, vocal inhabitants of (where else?) marshes. I have seen one every year in the exact same spot in the marsh at Lake St. Clair Metropark. As they do not overwinter in the North, it's pretty unlikely that this is the same wren that I see every year. This would be a good candidate for banding to determine whether it is the same bird.

This year we have been lucky with these lovely birds in Stockholm. They move in flocks to the South when it is cold in the North. They stay here a few days, eat fruits and berries and suddenly fly away.
Kites are large., powerful., Stunningly beautiful
And...
Arguably capable of unequalled aerobatics
For a photographer (even an amteur one like me) capturing that fact in a single shot represents something of a challenge
And just as a by-the-way., no this wasn't taken at any Kite feeding station
Hazel, my favorite female red squirrel enjoys sitting on small branches. This one was really thin, but it is amazing to see how easy she can keep herself balanced. Happy squirrel appreciation day! (Squirrels-2020-3060.jpg)
Couple of Cairns Birdwing Butterflies mating, female bigger and on top, male smaller, more colourful at the bottom.
The males mate with the females just after they have emerged from the pupa, even before their wings are dry. So at a very young age, the female Birdwing is ready to start laying eggs and repeats the life cycle again for the next generation.
As soon as adult butterflies hatch they mate quickly because they only live for 4 to 5 weeks.
Taken at Bribie Island Butterfly House, Qld, Australia.
