Of all places, found at rest on my washing line.
This slender insect is within Order Neuroptera, with wings held in a tent like position over the body when at rest. It is easy to see how these insects can often be mistaken for damselflies.
This one has been identified as within tribe Myrmeleontini, the pit-tripping antlions.
Around 30 mm in length

These acrobats performed at the Provo Recreational Center during a community party. Impressive balance skills.

Saturday I somehow ended up at an acrobatics exhibition. It was sign that it was time to come clean: My book The Contortionists about the famed Ross Sisters is done. I'm taking one final pass at the whole thing, then it's all about the literary agent/publisher phase of this project.

Male siskins.......mannen sijzen!
While in Shanghai during a recent trip we had the pleasure of watching a Chinese acrobatic show. Although there was very little light I managed to catch this photo using ISO1600 at a point when the acrobat was not moving.

Excited to discover a nest and now chicks in a big Banksia just over the fence,
They seem to make some attempt to scare us away.

"Constantly risking absurdity and death whenever he performs above the heads of his audience, the poet, like an acrobat, climbs on rhyme to a high wire of his own making."

I went out to an area where thistle is growing tall in search of a Yellow Finch. As you can see I got distracted by cool insects and forgot all about the finch.
Apart from one person on the extreme left, not a single member of the audience is looking directly at the performing acrobat. He might as well not be there at all.
