hi, hi, hi there little brothers!

A Clockwork Orange Publicity Picture

The light emanating from the base of the Lucy figure was so bright that when I adjusted my camera it darkened down everything else in the room. Like theater (and museum) lighting, this was designed for the naked eye (so to speak), not for the camera, though there were lots of cameras at the exhibit.

Looks like Alexa has some competition in the female droogie department.

Yum, more to choose from, more to look at. :-)

NOTE: I did the same Photoshop trick (see Alexa) of using masks to bring out the girl without overpowering the rest of the photo.

A female "Droogie" from A Clockwork Orange. Pretty girl and she looks the part but for what it's worth, I think Megan's "Alexa" is still the best one I've seen.

I'm so glad I read this original version finally published in the U.S. It is the book the rest of the world knows...however, when it was first published, the U.S. publisher convinced Burgess to omit the last chapter, which changes the meaning considerably.

This vintage book cover mock-up for 'A Clockwork Orange' uses the fully opened eye from Alex's 'treatment' as the visual theme.

It's interesting that both Lucy and the other reclining figure are wearing white wigs (and etcetera), instead of the florescent colored wigs from the film. Perhaps it was because they would have stood out too much, especially as this exhibit was open to all ages.

Okay let's please not talk about what a shitty hack photoshop job this is. :P

Let's also not talk about how in the original photos, I was 10 times darker than Minna, and somehow ended up 10 times paler. How does that work?!

One of my favorite books!

(Yes the quote above is only from the movie version but how friggin' great is that scene?)

Look out for more of these in the future :)

See Minna's version here!

Oh, and of course View On Black

The Kroovy Droogs, 10'' x 18'', acrylic on board. My piece for the "I Want My Music Video Art Show" at Gallery Meltdown, Hollywood, LA, 7th October - 20th October 2011.

For Gallery 1988's Postcard Art Show, a show in which everything is presented as an actual postcard based on pop culture.

I based my four designs on the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange each one depicting a part from the film from the Korea Milk Bar to the unexpected visit.

All four postcards are available to buy from Gallery 1988's location as well as in their online store:

Classic Movie Scene - A Clockwork Orange

Alex puts his droogs in their place.

One of the most shocking, disturbing, and wonderful movies of all time, check out the reference video here.

More scenes from more movies to come, are you getting tired of them yet?

Enjoy!

Oh, with me lovely, lovely Ludwig Van playing in the background, I went to a bad, bad place...

... but it's okay; they know me there. ;->

Not easy to get in and out of. It would have made more sense to have the whole glasshouse hinge forwards below the windscreen.

[This was a while ago...It looks a little different now...]

This is the turntable that was in Alex's bedroom, part of his stereo system. But we never got to see it in operation. Instead, we saw Alex pop a micro-cassette into his tape deck to listen to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony -- at least the second movement anyway.

Ironically, microcassettes never really quite took off. CDs would dominate the market, along with regular cassettes. And now LPs are making a comeback, along with turntables.

This is the Korova Milk Bar scene from A Clockwork Orange. This moc was at Brickworld, but I never got around to taking pictures until now.

Custom figures by myself.

Enjoy!

Sliding doors or moveable walls could close off the open workspace when needed. The open concept: Promotes interaction between family members when time is at a premium; Invites more light into space and air; Removes "dead" spaces from interiors.

This retro movie memorabilia, from circa 1995, was affordable eye-candy for shoppers at Kyobo Bookstore, Synara Records, and other big destination retailers. The movie stickers on the top sold for about 700 won a pop (roughly $1 US then) and featured, among other 'current' films, a poster from the 007 entry "Goldeneye" under the category of Money (!). On the bottom is an iconic still of Alex (Malcolm McDowell) from "A Clockwork Orange" (1971).

The Nadstat-language filled "Clockwork Orange" had to wait until late 2005 to get an uncut VHS (and DVD) release in Korea, while the cunningly linguistic "Diamonds are Forever" made it nearly uncut back in the late 80s rental era.
