"....Whatever tomorrow wants from me

At least I'm here, at least I'm free

Free to choose to see the signs

This is my line...." - by Poets of the Fall

“Photography is still a very new medium and everything must be tried and dared. Photography is not a sport. It has no rules. It’s the result it counts no matter how it’s achieved.”

– Bill Brandt

“Every photograph has an equivalent idea or emotion attached to it”

– Alfred Stieglitz

Brightening up the avenue in this mountainous city, eastern Spain | In Explore Mar 24, 2024 nº. 261

This was the result of experimenting with my pixel phone's macro mode whilst shooting down the neck of a red wine bottle. I only noticed afterward that there was a small amount of wine in focus in this shot.

I have photographed these a number of times but this is the first time that I used a 90mm Macro lens which makes the cracks and holes more obvious and in my opinion somewhat distracting.

A few years ago I was advised that this was not an art installation and that it was in fact part of an expensive ventilation system. However, as I liked these dark blocks I began to believe that it was a modern sculpture and then one day I saw a sign nearby indicating that it was “8 Limestones” by Ulrich Rückriem.

Ulrich Rückriem (30 September 1938) is a German sculptor notable for his monumental stone sculptures. He lives and works in Cologne and London. His abstract works of art are often assigned to the style of minimalism and process art.

Many of the works of art of Rückriem are accessible to the public as public art, mostly in Germany, but also in Spain, France, England, Ireland to mention but a few.
