Memories from summer's past.....
I try to vary my photostream from time to time and did not want to post a landscape shot today or a flower shot...so what was the next best thing you ask ???? something a bit abrstract perhaps ??
Well something blue for a blue Monday..LOL

Well thought i would have a quick go at these light twirls that are getting increasingly popular around here. Constructive criticism welcome as always. Not my usual style to do such abstract work.

A weeny detail of the bridge on the cycle track over the River Avon on the way to Bath, and just below Kelston manor. Caught in the long afternoon shadows and completely unchanged from the way it came off the camera but for a light crop
Little bit of ICM from Charmouth, Dorset, first thing this morning.
Tide was really high today with rolling waves and a band of colour in the sky from the rising sun.
Lovely to be out early, makes ya feel alive :)

101 Oil Studies, No. 62
Objective: Abstract
Painted in 3 sessions: 19–22 Feb 2025
Pigments (Winsor & Newton Artists' oil colour unless otherwise noted): Permalba white (Weber), lamp black, burnt sienna. Medium: Gamsol.
Centurion OP DLX oil primed linen, 22.9 x 30.5 (9 x 12 inches)
19 Feb: Wash of permalba white, lamp black, and a touch of burnt sienna thinned with Gamsol. I've applied it with brush strokes into a strong pattern, looking almost like dense caligraphy. No wiping. 21 Feb: In-class during Michael Ottersen session, I applied light patches and heavey strokes of burnt sienna. 22 Feb: A fresh look and additional strokes of the burnt sienna, tending toward heavier ones.

Leda and the Swan, Rome 1962
Oil, pencil, and crayon on canvas, 6' 3" x 6' 6 3/4" (190.5 x 200 cm)
Cy Twombly (American, born 1928)
Rome, Twombly's home since the 1950s, has nurtured his fascination with classical antiquity. In this work he refers to the Roman myth in which Jupiter, lord of the gods, takes the shape of a swan in order to ravish Leda, the beautiful mother of Helen (over whom the Trojan war would be fought). Twombly's version of this old art-historical theme supplies no contrast of feathers and flesh but a fusion of violent energies in furiously thrashing overlays of crayon, pencil, and ruddy paint. A few recognizable signs
A couple of slightly abrstract-y shots of the amazing sky on Sunday night. No leading lines, focal point, very little composition...but pretty colours tho eh :)
This is the famous Air Force Chapel on the Air Force base in Colorado. It sure is one beautiful structure; almost other worldly. I could spend all day shooting the church and finding new and interesting compositions. And I did, it was one great afternoon. The exterior of the building is massed like a phalanx of fighter jets shooting up into the sky.
