I'd love to edit everything right now, but here's the first shot that I've got edited.

For this kind of thing, color is nice, but branchline steam engines were meant to be shot in B&W.

The Abilene and Smoky Valley's ATSF steam locomotive steams up as it takes the excursion train towards Enterprise.

Abilene Courts motor court built in 1938. It has been abandoned for years and partially torn down now. An interesting relic of the past. Motor courts preceded today's motels. A famous example of a motor court was featured in the film, "It Happened One Night" (1934). A movie still worth watching 89 years later!

Abilene was the home-town of President Eisenhower. He grew up in a small home on the southeast edge of town. The Eisenhower brothers hand dug a trench, for a quarter mile, to hook up to a water line when it reached the south portion of Abilene.

The Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad is well known for their steam excursion rides out of Abilene, KS, but the lesser known, more frequently used excursion unit is also a real treat, an Alco S1. This is the regularly used excursion power for ASV and it is kept in excellent shape. Here it is seen East of Abilene headed for Enterprise, KS.

I feel like I'm really missing out on fall while I am in Texas for work. I have yet to see any fall colors while being here. This stretch of road inside the Abilene State Park is about the closest I have come to seeing any signs of fall.

I drove out to Abilene, Texas for Labor Day Weekend. I met all my friends at a buddy's ranch for some dove hunting. The birds were few and far between this year with all the rainfall we've had in the last two months. These two shots were taken near Santa Anna, TX with some individual thunderstorms scattering the light and dropping some more rain.

The street lights surrounding the Abilene Depot illuminate the steamy plumes from AT&SF Locomotive #3415 as she begins an evening departure with an eastbound passenger train.

This image was captured during a September, 2023 photo shoot on the Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad, which featured the 1919 vintage, AT&SF Class 3400 Pacific, which now runs in tourist service between Abilene and nearby Enterprise, on 5 miles of former Rock Island track.

One firefighter was working on the fire truck, and he saw me taking pictures. I told him I wanted him in the image, but he was to shy. Anyway, this image is dedicated to the firefighters all across the world who help in time of need. Thank you for your service!
