FYI. I'll tell you a secret hidden in this image, my Friend. Part of the attraction is created by the cloud shadow cutting the image across the horizon and causing the barns to be highlighted! I doubt that most viewers consciously noticed the connection... Did you?
...after watching birds all day in the cold wet rain, we only managed about 12 species. World Big Day through the weekend so hoping to see something new today.
FYI: This book is a gift from our very dear friend, Isabella. She bird watched with her late husband in and around Queens/NY. Copyright 1947 complete with handmade tabs for every category of species!!

FYI: I was just told this from a wildlife group...
leaving out globs of peanut butter risks them choking. spread it real nice and thin or stick with raw whole peanuts. rodents can't vomit so certain foods are more dangerous than others (also why poisons work so well on them).
From now on I will definitely spread it thin...

(FYI - those white spots on the buttercup aren't over-exposure but rather damage from the monsoon-like torrential downpours we endured this past Sunday. Rain came down so hard, the sheer velocity beat up the buttercups and clean knocked their colour off. Thankfully this one happened to be the least damaged among them.)
FYI - I didn't hurt any daisies in the making of this photo, but my Canon 40D did take a turn for the worst. A big ass crack shows up in all my shots, don't know what happened because I never dropped it. I cloned it out the best I could. All I know is the dreaded "error" popped up twice before I looked at my screen and went WTF! Anyway, going to get the camera guy to look at it to see if it can be saved. (It is a shame for I just had it cleaned from all the dust) If not, I will have to look into getting another camera. Anyone have any suggestions on new cameras?
FYI the restaurant in the upper right corner was used as the front for Seinfeld's TV show exterior diner shots.
FYI: When I shoot puddle reflections like this, I am usually holding my cell phone about an inch or less above the puddle. Most people have no idea what I'm doing but for this series of shots, a man came up to me and said, "Good eye! I'm a photographer. I love reflections!"
FYI, if you are looking for otters around a sea shore then keep an eye out for rocks with a green covering among those hosting the usual seaweed These appear to be places where otters frequent and deposit scent markings/spraints as can be seen by this one. Presumably they are boundary markers for their territory.

Happy Fence Friday (HFF) from an unusually cold and snowy Vancouver. It certainly makes for beautiful and Christmassy scenery.
FYI the orange/red block you see in the distance (right of center) is actually an enormous barge that broke loose in high windstorms a couple of months ago and drifted further into Burrard Inlet getting frighteningly close to the bridge before finally running aground in English Bay where it's been stuck ever since, waiting on the next king tide when they hope to get it back out to sea.
FYI, I decided to embark upon a 30 day challenge to include LYD in as many pictures and settings as I can in 30 days.

Another hibiscus flower in my backyard. FYI, I do not live in a mobile home park like the map says, I live in a house northeast of where I placed the image.
Fort Myers Yellow is often seen grown as a 4-6' high tree standard or braid.
Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. The genus is quite large, comprising several hundred species that are native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Member species are renowned for their large, showy flowers and those species are commonly known simply as "hibiscus", or less widely known as rose mallow. Other names include hardy hibiscus, rose of sharon, and tropical hibiscus.
The genus includes both annual and perennial herbaceous plants, as well as woody shrubs and small trees.
Several species are widely cultivated as ornamental plants, notably Hibiscus syriacus and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis.
A tea made from hibiscus flowers is known by many names around the world and is served both hot and cold. The beverage is known for its red colour, tart flavour, and vitamin C content.

Today we have another awesome theme at Looking close on Friday : Cats in Black & White. I’m really sorry but I HAD to include Mr. Cat-Egg since he loves this group so much. He was heartbroken at first since he isn’t a cat… However, Mr. Egg had an old cat disguisement and was more than willing to put it on in order to be a part of this awesome theme. I double checked the rules and there is nothing against cat-eggs in this theme… So let’s juste hope that my picture will be accepted and that you will like it, of course !!!

I never thought I'd live to see the day that the work of the iconic graffiti artist, Vandal, would be destroyed! But the giraffe is gone, replaced by a mouth full of teeth that need repair! The loss to the world of graffiti art cannot be measured! sigh.... sigh..... sigh....

I have no idea what this is! I discovered him on a flower on my deck and he posed for me very patiently!!!!
FYI- I have lost 1 dog, 2 cats,and some chickens to coyotes over the last 20 years. My wife has made me get out of bed on many nights and go outside and tell the coyotes to shut it up with the late night yapping!!!!!!!! So why do I take so many photos of this coyote at the marina? I'm not sure why! Nature!!!!!

This asymmetric winding staircase is very tall. It is 219 steps to climb 165 feet. There is a spectacular view from the top, albeit a hazy one during my visit......FYI ... this is a color picture...;-))
FYI to see what I've been doing. picture 1: looking out on the vast expanse of weeds. with a few flowers scattered in.
picture 2: looking at what I've done. and it took me 4 or 5 days to do it. I will get the pots put back and the area tidied up.

Sunday while my grandson was weed whacking, his girlfriend natalie was helping me weed. she watered all my dahlia pots for me and then weeded in front of them. now I can see what's in each pot.
it's so nice to have helpers.
