Young Red Panda Bear at Zurich Zoo.

The red panda is slightly larger than a domestic cat with a bear-like body and thick russet fur. The belly and limbs are black, and there are white markings on the side of the head and above its small eyes. Red pandas are very skillful and acrobatic animals that predominantly stay in trees. Almost 50% of the red panda’s habitat is in the Eastern Himalayas. They use their long, bushy tails for balance and to cover themselves in winter, presumably for warmth. Primarily an herbivore, the name panda is said to come from the Nepali word ‘ponya,’ which means bamboo or plant eating animal. (WWF)

Snow leopards are perfectly adapted to the cold, barren landscape of their high-altitude home, but human threats have created an uncertain future for the cats. Despite a range of over 2 million km2, scientist estimate that there may only be between 3,920 and 6,390 snow leopards left in the wild.

Sia the Cheetah and one of her little cubs posed beautifully for me today :D

One of the 4 cheetah cubs born at Colchester Zoo on the 15th April.

There's something about Zebra's and BW processing that has always encapsulated me...

Bailey the Barbary lion at Colchester Zoo having a well rested catnap in the sun

Nothing better than a big smile from a Panda to start the day!

Running into the weekend like Lottie the baby White Rhino!

A quick stop to check out the Grey Wolves and this one turned and genuinely smiled for me.....not something I have experienced before!

I decided to throw together a collage of some of my favorite images I've taken over the years at various zoos. These were taken at the Akron Zoo, Cleveland Zoo, Columbus Zoo, Erie Zoo, and Knoxville Zoo.

straight from cam, no post
