Most Owls are active at dusk and dawn, like this Snowy owl, spending the daytime at a quiet, inconspicuous roost. Their daily activity begins with preening, stretching, yawning and combing its head with its claws. The plumage is often ruffled up, and claws and toes are cleaned by nibbling with the beak. When relaxed, the plumage is loose and fluffy. If an owl becomes alarmed, it will become slim, its feathers pulled in tightly to the body, and ear-tufts, if any, will stand straight up.

We woke up this morning to a wonderland of frosty meadows and woodlands. It took a while for the haze to burn off, followed by sunshine and beautiful blue skies.
After our fresh snow, the frost painted an amazing landscape!

Taken last Thursday evening. I was just beginning to feel a cold coming on. Little did I know the misery that awaited me. I have been down hard with a sinus infection. After suffering Friday and Saturday hoping it would start to get better I finally caved in Sunday and went to an after hours clinic. Sinus infection. Man, I didn't know it was possible for ones face to hurt so bad. Even my teeth hurt. May be a few more days before I am up to any photography, I will probably even be missing work tonight.
The dome of the Greenwich Observatory in the fog. Just a few meters East of the Meridian line.
I love trees in the fog. Something so magical and unreal about them.
Palouse, Washington. First morning light breaks over the frozen snow covered rolling hills of the Palouse. The pinks and blue hues only lasted for a minute before turning into an average looking winter day. The wind chill made it feel like -10 degrees Fahrenheit.
My film shots from the last few months will arrive in a couple days. Here is a teaser of one frame the lab sent me. Can't wait to see how my images came out.
Enjoy,
Ry

Listening to Envagu vee by Zero Degree. The best and original music ever created by any Maldivian music band.

Addu Atoll Eedhi Galu Kulhi. Like the international airlines, a lot of birds' transit destination, from Australia and South Africa.
I met John Howard and Nelson Mandela on their transit. The known "birds" did land here in the Maldives, so it is a good thing. Hence, this place is now protected by law.
Freezing cold with snow flurries near Compton Abbas. We had a crazy idea to go and look for snow!
This is the same field I photographed last week (below in comments).

This carpark was interesting because just about every lightbulb was a different type, from low wattage flourescent to very warm incandescent. The blue area at the back is outside and very overcast. CTO gelled flash above the guys. Pretty much straight out of the camera except for the white balance.

I woke up early and went for a walk while there were not many people around, just a few joggers and people who are still going to work. It was zero degrees but sunny so lovely light.
Then back home, breakfast and work from home!
Poole lifting Bridge is closed to traffic this week, but open to walk and cycle across. The car park where I took this shot is usually closed off but was open and deserted today.

Nirmala and me pose on either side of the Zero Longitude line in Greenwich, UK. This line is now the time reference for the whole world, thanks to the British Empire where the sun never set.
(The zero line in 5th Century AD was the North-South line passing through the the "Lingam" of Maha-Keleswara Temple, Ujjain, India, now 75 degrees East of Greenwich. This was when Indian astronomy was at its peak during the reign of Vikramadithya. Kaleshwar is Kala+ Ishwar , God of Time )
