As the Agapanthus begin to unfurl in my garden, a fresh purpose greets the day. It's moments like these, witnessing nature's simple artistry, that compel this old guy to grab his camera and seek out beauty.
Known as Lily-of-the-Nile or African Lily, this herbaceous perennial, hailing from South Africa, graces us with its magnificent blue or white blooms, poised elegantly atop slender stalks—a truly captivating subject.
"Time of the Season" is a song by the American rock band The Zombies, released in 1968. It was written by keyboardist Rod Argent and became their biggest hit, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969.

Sometimes it’s the Littlest of Things that Make You Happy
After a rainy day, I just can't resist heading out to hunt for mushrooms. What can I say? I guess I'm just a bit old and wonderfully crazy!

... Moments will soon pass, and you will wish you had treasured them more.
This little succulent plant was given to me several years ago by my mother, who was in her late 80’s at the time.
I didn’t want to hurt my mother's feelings, so I humored her by putting it in a pot and sticking the pot in a remote corner of my back yard. I figured the plant would die shortly and I wouldn’t need to care for it any longer.
As with many of the things I have taken for granted in my life, turned out that my Mother was the one to die, not the little plant. I've learned to appreciate life as it happens.

I took my pooch for a walk along the ocean-front path in Laguna Beach today. She was a good girl, waiting patiently while I framed this shot. It was a good day !!

Cloudy skies and a gentle drizzle kept me close to home today, but my garden offered a bright spot: a geranium, just beginning to bud. The sight sparked a memory, and soon Karen Carpenter's voice filled my ears with "We've Only Just Begun" as I worked on this photo.
🎶 Before the rising sun, we fly
So many roads to choose
We'll start out walking and learn to run. And yes, we've just begun 🎶

Geraniums:
Want to add a splash of happy to your life? Geraniums are your answer. These guys are bursting with bold, beautiful blooms in all sorts of colors, and they're super easy to care for. Just pop them in a sunny spot, give them a little water, and watch them thrive, whether it's on a windowsill, patio, or hanging basket!

It's starting to get hot in Southern California, so I chose a leftover chrysanthemum from a 4th of July bouquet for an indoor photo project. It was a good way to distract myself from watching more videos of the ongoing flood tragedy in Texas.

Went over to the coast for a couple of hours to check out the afternoon weather.
Spotted these sailboats heading back to harbor just ahead of an approaching storm.
Every boat made it to safety, and all was good at the end of the day.

Thought I’d take another shot at a Still Life. The Mrs. has been staying at the hospital with her brother who is severely ill. I’m dog sitting our pooch and not getting out much. All that said, I’m doing much better than those folks suffering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. My thoughts are with all those who are suffering today.

The Alabama Hills are a striking range of rugged, rocky formations and natural arches located in the eastern Sierra Nevada, near the town of Lone Pine in California, USA.
They sit at the base of Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the contiguous United States, creating a dramatic contrast between the jagged hills and the towering, snow-capped Sierra mountains.
Geologically, the Alabama Hills are composed of weathered granite, shaped over millions of years by erosion into rounded, sculpted forms. They date back about 150 million years, formed from plutonic rock that cooled underground and was later exposed by uplift and erosion. This process gave them their distinctive, almost otherworldly appearance.
The Alabama Hills have been a Hollywood favorite since the 1920s. Their proximity to Los Angeles and their unique, versatile landscape have made them a go-to location for hundreds of movies, especially Westerns.
Classics like How the West Was Won and Gunga Din, as well as modern films like Iron Man and Django Unchained, were shot here. The area’s Movie Road even has a self-guided tour pointing out key filming spots.
The area holds traces of Indigenous history, with petroglyphs scattered across the rocks, left by the Paiute and Shoshone peoples who lived in the region long before settlers arrived.
So much to make me happy in this photo. A fun photo workshop last Sunday where I was able to try out a modern Nikon camera (Z6iii) and good lens, make some new friends and meet this cute Capybara at the Wildlife HQ, Sunshine Coast Queensland.
NB the first photo was replaced with this similar pic in order to meet the requirements for the Crazy Tuesday rules
At the end of the day, I am thankful that my blessings are bigger than my problems.
May your Thanksgiving meal be bountiful, shared with cherished friends, and filled with love.
