Portrait of a visitor to the Sainsbury Gallery at the V&A, during Opening week, July 2017. A subterranean gallery built under the Courtyard at the V&A, London, using only natural light coming from ceiling apertures. This 1,100 square metre column-free underground space is one of the largest temporary exhibition spaces in the UK. Designed by Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A).

Hard to say what is "Your Best Shot" ... but this could be in my case, because I only had one chance to shoot before the authority came out to forbid me to continue doing it and the result was almost perfect ... just what I wanted achieve.
This is a photograph of a leaf trapped in a spiders web with rain drops and rain splashes. I went out for a walk to find some leaves to photograph. I came across this leaf in the photograph. As I got closer to the leaf, it began to rain. I still decided to take the photograph. I was able to capture the splashes from the rain, and some of the rain drops on the spiders web.
Tried a few shots with the Fuji 60mm Macro lens. Turned out best on these partially covered gone to seed dandelions wide open. Not bad for hand held.
What do you do when you find the bird that you think cannot possibly be the bird in front of you ?? Well I thought the best bet was to post it on Flickr ! I stumbled across this bird between Snargate and Fairfield on the Romney Marsh in Kent Uk and was pretty sure it was a Caracara I reported it to the bird observatory at Dungeness and one other expert . I have since found out that this is not the first report of Caracara in this area of kent . No one seems to have lost a bird like this zoos ect and it has no rings on its legs or cut feathers so where on earth did it come from and how did it get to Romney Marsh !
I put this image into the Flickr "Your Best Shot 2017" Group and was so pleased to find it chosen by Flickr to go into a gallery curated by Flickr of 46 images " Your Best Shot 2017 - Birds " www.flickr.com/photos/kentwildlife/37019698112/in/gallery...
To choose my best photo of this year is not easy task. Finally, I've chosen this photography for the group 'Your Best Shot 2017'.
This photo was taken in Bujaruelo Valley, close to the refuge with the same name. This place is located on the Ordesa Valley, Huesca, Spain.
If you want to follow my recent pictures you can see them on the following platform webs:

Red-Winged Blackbird chicks opening their mouths, hoping for a tasty bug the instant they hear mom or dad coming.
Red-wing parents are really good at caring for their chicks and there are always enough 'treats' to go around. I have never seen the nestlings left hungry for long. Mom and Dad will even continue to feed and protect their chicks for up to 5 weeks after they leave the nest.
These birds nest close to well-used walkways and are not bothered by respectful humans. And respectful humans do not post bird nest locations on social media :) I've seen too many photographer fights break out at nests that were posted online and that's not good for the birds.
My personal favorite until now.
This photo was taken 30 minutes before this shot. This shot was exposed for only six minutes.
And as mentioned before: All you need is:
• a little bit of time
• beautiful weather
• a solid tripod
• and a super neutral-density filter
I chose this photo to post to "Your Best Shot 2017" (www.flickr.com/groups/yourbestshot2017/)
This image represents an important event in the world in 2017 and also an important event in my life. I started my life as a political-and-social-activist at age 15, so it seemed appropriate to mark my 50+ years as an activist at age 71 by attending the Women's March in DC on Jan 21, 2017.
The women, men, and children at the march showed support for many issues, including the environment. This image ended up in Explore, so it was not only my favorite image from the event, but became the fave of many Flickr members, too.

Women's March - Washington DC, 01/21/17
This is one of my favorite signs that I saw in DC.
I don't allow downloads on my Flickr account, but if you want to use this photo (or others from the Women's March) in protest to the current administration or to use for civil rights (for everyone) issues, or to highlight environmental issues, send me a Flickr msg with your email and the title of my image. I'll send you a jpg file.
The woman holding the sign reminds me of one of my best friends in college. She's now, like me, in her 70's, but this reminds me of her during our college days.

We were driving through Kruger National Park when we noticed a big elephant walking down the road towards the car. We were sitting watching it when this other elephant walked across the road right in front of the car, but the first elephant kept coming towards the car. We reversed a couple of times and were going to turn around and go back the other way, but it also decided to go into the bushes.
Chicago March 2017 snowstorm detail. The fence was actually painted a quite groovy deep purple color, but the photo still looked better in black & white.
edit:
I choose this as my Best Shot in 2017. Technically it's not particular at all actually it's a snap and subject is just cliche but it was the first sunset shot I've done in a while and that evening was pure magic. Also this summer I made the big change moving from Italy to Sweden so the picture sort of represent this change.

this is my favorite photo of 2017.
I was wandering around Parc Mont-Royal on a very cold day. I still struggle a lot to compose a photo, but this one presented itself to me. I love the branches pointing to the top of the pine tree and the fact that it is the only one with leaves.

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh refer to the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar living in Bangladesh. On 22 Oct 2017, the UN reported that an estimated 603,000 refugees from Rakhine, Myanmar had crossed the border into Bangladesh since August 25, 2017. There are about 1 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Rohingyas are a Muslim minority in Myanmar regarded by many Myanmar Buddhists as illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The Rohingyas have lived in Myanmar for generations and the Bangladesh government has called for Myanmar to take back the refugees. They are denied citizenship in Myanmar and have been described as the world’s most persecuted minority. Rohingyas are persecuted in Myanmar by security forces and Buddhist extremists. Myanmar has denied persecuting the Rohingyas.
Since the 1970s Rohingya refugees have been coming to Bangladesh from Myanmar. In the 1990s, more than 250,000 resided in refugees camps in Bangladesh. In the early 2000s, all but 20,000 of them were repatriated to Myanmar, some against their will. This respite ended in 2015 and by 2017, an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 Rohinya refugees were in Bangladesh. Most of the refugees are located along the Teknaf-Cox's Bazar highway that is parallel to the Naf River, which is the border between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Most of the refugees are located in or near Cox's Bazar, a coastal area dependent upon tourism.

Had a wonderful surprise on February 25, 2018 by : Outdoor Photographer Magazine. They made this photograph "PHOTO OF THE DAY! www.outdoorphotographer.com/photo-day-diana-kae/
With the cold weather upon us in Missouri it is time to feed the wild birds some sunflower seeds. Such a BEAUTIFUL variety of birds!
Submission for “Your Best Shot 2017” Your Best Shot of 2017 can be an overwhelming thought...which one, which one. But my decision was made with my DSLR breaking. The saying ‘use what you have’ came into play. I decided I would use my GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition and have some fun challenging myself to capture something new to end the year. I had a lot of fun with the planning of this shot and trying to implement it for my final and "Best Shot of 2017." I also think the wild birds had fun eating all of the sunflower seeds!”
Opposite of the Cheshire smile, this is Mikey at our Pet Portrait w/ teh Easter Bunny in Wonderland Fundraiser for Animal Network Las Vegas.
At 13 years old Mikey suddenly found himself in rescue, boarding and subjected to humiliating Easter Bunny Ears.
He lost his home because his owner had dementia and could no longer care for him.
He's old, overweight, lumpy and he smells. So naturally we brought him home.
My wife is already posting instagrams of me & Mikey & noting our similarities. haha.
We're fostering Mikey, so if you'd like to adopt an overweight, lumpy, smelly old dog let me know, in the meantime know that Mikey has found sanctuary and will never be returning to boarding...

Don't know if it's the "Best Shot" but Mikey hates it so....
Also, we've since adopted Mikey and he has bounced, He's lost weight, increased stamina and went on a road trip to the beach. While I think he still misses his old home he seems content and we're very happy he's joined our family...Hey Mikey, He Likes It!
Carolina Duck Portrait
The Carolina or American Wood Duck is native to North America and nests in hollow trees and particularly favours old woodpecker sites. It is the availability of suitable nest sites that determines ultimate numbers in the wild but the Carolina has readily adapted to using artificial nest boxes and their numbers have significantly increased following the provision of artificial sites.
