I was fortunate to witness and to capture this beautiful sunset at Duffus Castle yesterday…the silhouettes of a young couple enjoying the moment was an added bonus…
I wish all my Flickr friends a special Christmas despite Covid restrictions. Stay safe and well everyone. Thank you all for your friendship and kind comments thoughout the year; all of which are very much appreciated…

In 1982 I spent two days and a night in Paris. No tours, I just wandered the great city. I went to the Lourve, saw The Mona Lisa and many other great works of art. I went to Nortre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and walked along the Seine, where I took this picture, which epitomized my preconceived image of Paris. I had many adventures like this in those years as a young man in the Coast Guard.
As I was photographing the Boulder County Courthouse (shown in the first comment below), a couple walked in front of me. The guy seemed to start a argument with his girlfriend, but instead he dropped to one knee and raised a ring...he was proposing. She seemed momentarily stunned, but then squealed "yes, yes, yes."
They embraced amid more "Yes, yes", and he stayed on that knee all the while! Hopefully, they will always be as happy and excited with each other for many years to come.
Inside my truck cab I sometimes feel large and cramped, but walking in nature, perspective changes all that. Looking up into the night in the middle of nowhere, all those star's, unimaginably far away, now that's perspective. Time is the same.
Took this picture last November on a foggy morning in Oregon, Jefferson Rest stop. Took several pictures I really like. The couple walking their dogs, so small next to the tall trees.
Hong Kong rising behind them in soft haze,
they leaned into the frame—
one playful, one focused,
both trying to hold on to a moment
that already felt too good to let slip away.
Drifting, Floating...
We decided to make a day trip down to Jack Darling Park to walk along the waterfront and take a few photos. Yesterday was extremely hot and muggy with a threat of severe thunderstorms. I find these types of days make for more interesting images; as the thick, dark cloud cover creates a nice separation between the lake and the sky.
A couple on a paddle board were just floating along dipping their feet in the water to cool off, they were around 50 feet off shore and seemed quote content to not paddle and just drfit with the current.

Young lovers kiss passionately by Trafalgar Square Fountain. (Candid shot). This photograph was taken early in the afternoon, when the square was very crowded as usual. I therefore cropped the image to highlight the feel of sublime romance and isolation from the surrounding world. Trying to change the camera setting to work with the selective focus would have meant to miss the moment. I thought that a soft pink monochrome would suit the sweetness of this instant...

Out Together..
After spending a few hours sauntering through the park taking photos. The time had gotten away from us, the sun was just starting to wane in the sky. These mid winter days are so short and we are lucky to get seven hours of sunlight. The days are just starting to get a bit longer and we find we can stay out till almost six and not be in total darkness.
Just ahead a random couple were out for a nice easy walk through the park, much like we were. they were chatting idly and laughing as they went. It was a nice day for a walk.

After visiting the hidden valley of Gjain, we drove to this more well known waterfall. Our photography guides (Mieke and Matt of Alpinelight) were disappointed that the sun had come out which made it a bit harder to take photos but it was still very nice. But it was impossible to get a photo without people in it - a common problem in Iceland.
I like the rock on the left of the waterfall - reminds me of a lizard looking up.

Have a beautiful Sunday!
I have not visited Flickr much lately since the changes.
Found the download slow, images are large, lots of black, not easy to navigate but I'm slowly getting used to it.
