How often do you actually act like yourself? I get to be me, 'cause that is exactly who I am. I'm me. I have greenish brown eyes, that occasionally look blue. I've got brown hair, sometimes it looks red in the summer and I've got pale skin to go with it. I don't wear much make-up, at the most I wear eye shadow and mascara.
Learning to be yourself and be comfortable in your skin is majorly important and it's something I learned.
So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27
God didn't make us so that we could run off and act like other people or try to please everyone. We are meant to please Him. If we were made to please God, do you think it pleases Him when we try to be who we aren't rather then who He created us as? No, I don't think it does.
Why would you not want to be you? Do you think people won't like you if you aren't, or that maybe you think you are so strange and out there that your own family won't accept you.
That isn't right, your family loves you, they accept you for you. And as for people not liking you for you, the people who care to much about appearance don't matter. Those people that judge you for being you, do not matter. Usually those people are insecure about being themselves that they judge other people.
Don't let other peoples bias or judgments bother you, be you and no one else. God created you in His image, so be more like Him and you will find that you are being you.
It's a pretty simple statement, but it is right, and something everyone has to acknowledge.

To me it means holding on to what you believe in and understanding that not everyone will love you for who you are, but that this doesn't necessarily mean you're the one who should change.
Today I was invited to starting working for a few hours a week on a programme I used to volunteer with. I was worried that I may have scuppered my chances at the informal interview by being too honest, but at the same time I would have felt massively uncomfortable going into it under false pretences. Turns out everything worked out all right in the end and I can't wait to start. Things are looking up in Georgia-land!
