Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round
Almost forgot about this one I got while over in Ocean Shores. Never tried one like this before, I kinda dig it :)
This picture is for the group Macro Monday's and this week the theme is "Circles".
My husband asked me "WHY didn't you put it on another color of paper??!!" I said that I did but the other picture didn't come out very clear. So... sorry to make you look at this "putrid" color. It's kinda grown on me!
I'm not really sure what this thing is. I found it in my kitchen drawer. I know it goes to a counter-top appliance.... I just don't know which one!
I decided to title it "You Spin Me Round" since I always hear that song on the radio. Since I couldn't remember who sang it I had to google it. Made me laugh watching that video on YouTube!! Artist/Bands were pretty goofy back then... or high.... one or the other. :0

A quick shot as we passed each other on the street without any interaction short of a smile and a photograph.
There were other things on my mind.
I was looking for Professor Bikenstein.
I had heard on the news that the scientists at CERN... that really big particle accelerator in europe... that they had said that they detected neutrinos flyin' around at 0.0025 percent faster than the speed of light.
Some people were claiming this proved Einstein's theory of special relativity wrong.
Bikenstein would have an opinion on it and I was curious what he would say.
I thought it was a bit premature... I mean the speed of the neutrinos as recorded by CERN was just barely faster than the speed of light...
a hair over 180,000 miles per second... which is light's speed.
The neutrino that CERN clocked woudda gone just an extra 450 miles in that second.
180,450 miles per second.
Big whip... the speed of light is six hundred seventy million six hundred sixty one thousand six hundred and twenty nine miles per hour... 670,661,629mph.
That's like ten million times faster than the speed limit on the expressway in case you wondered.
The speed of the neutrino CERN clocked was six hundred seventy two million three hundred thirty eight thousand two hundred and eighty three miles per hour.
That's only one million six hundred seventy six thousand six hundred and fifty four miles per hour faster... a mere 1,676,654mph difference.
No self respecting cop would even write you a speeding ticket for that kind of 'infraction.'
It'd be like gettin' a ticket for doin' 55.1375mph in a 55mph zone!
Come on!
And if he did write me the ticket the first thing I'd ask the cop is how he clocked me and if he calibrated his ladar gun that day.
Any Cook County judge would laugh that one out of court.
'Yerrrrrr honerrrrr... my client informs me dat in fact he just erroneously put oversized tires on his spaceship prior to dis citation bein' wrongly written against him and in fact it caused de errah to his speedometer which is da reeeson why we are here today... my client pleads not guilty and is in fact da victim here.'
Any cop would know that ticket would be just a waste of paper.
'Do you know why I pulled you over?'
'Uh... I was only going one million six hundred seventy six thousand six hundred and fifty four miles per hour faster than the speed limit officer... can't we just make it a warning?'
'Have you been drinking tonight?'
'Two beers officer.'
'Why is she passed out?'
'She drank the good stuff.'
'Tequila?'
'Yes sir officer.'
'Let's slow it down.'
Light is some fast shit.
Einstein emphatically considered that the speed of light was sort of a 'universal speed limit' when he layed out his theory.
If the neutrino broke that barrier does it mean he was wrong?
Or does it mean that the fundamentals of the macro-universe and the micro-universe are just different?
But how could there be two sets of rules?
I don't know.
How do the CERN scientists even know if they got the right neutrino?
I wouldn't wanna count Einstein out yet.
That dude had an idea... layed out this formula and the next thing you know there was a mushroom cloud over the desert.
When's the last time you had an idea like that?
It'd be different if the neutrino CERN pulled over was cruisin' around at double the speed of light or something.
Then there'd certainly be some fundamental flaw in the theory of special relativity.
What if their clocks are just off?
Fermilab made the same announcement a few years ago... and they were wrong... their clocks were proven inaccurate.
Or if CERN is right in their observation does it simply prove Einstein's theory correct in that when something moves faster than the speed of light that it's actually travelling through time?
Like a hair forward in time?
I think that humankind had better get itself ready for a new understanding of the universe within a few years.
Big changes are coming.
It could be pretty cool.
When we understand the universe within the frame of a new paradigm there's gonna be a revolution in thought that occurs that's gonna change everyone's lives whether they think about this stuff or not.
It's gonna be a major paradigm shift.
It's not too far over the horizon.
I never found Professor Bikenstein that night.
I went and shot The Buddies concert instead.

The song is "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" by Dead or Alive. An '80s classic. I don't really know why I chose this song except for the fact that it was stuck in my head all day long and I really couldn't think of a better image / song at the time. So here it is! The video is... well, totally '80s!

Dead or Alive - 1985 or various artists including Marilyn Manson and Ten Masked Men (death Metal band)
On June 24, Mike and I headed to Cedar Street Courtyard (208 W. 4th St.) for a live performance by Austin's best 80s cover band -- The Spazmatics! These guys sure know how to put on a fun show. In this video clip, the band performs the Dead or Alive classic ''You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)''...
