I saw a clearing in the clouds coming and made the 50 minute drive to try and catch the sunset here. Pulled up just in time to rush down to the water's edge. The rain had sacred off the crowds, with only a few scattered cars passing by before the ranger pulled up to close the gates for the night.

For as long as I can remember, this piece of land close to where I live was filled with trees and bushes. Recently, though, the area has been cleared and construction has begun for more housing. The spectacular summer sunsets are gone from here forever. I am glad I went out occasionally and took some pictures here. If I hadn't I wouldn't have anything to remind me of this beautiful place that once was here.

Yolo Baypass Wildlife Area, near Sacramento, CA. Unfortunately so much of the refuge area is dry. It was nice to see a number of birds still hanging out there and we were fortunate to see several pheasant at a distance but this one was pretty close.
Storm passing over and through Woodland in Yolo County. Just after 6:30pm a tornado warning was issued and expired at 7pm. I never saw one, but did see lots of dust devils from the storm's outflow. I suspect that's what a lot of people thought were tornados.
