Because American Goldfinches are vegetarian and don’t eat insects, they nest late, waiting until late summer or early fall when there are lots of seeds to eat. ~ Goldfinch in our Katsura Tree, a favorite place for them to rest before going back to the garden for more echinacea seeds.

Borghetto sul Mincio, a romantic autumn walk.

Autumn is here and is slowly recoloring the landscape. That tree with the green leaves caught my eye - it was separated color wise from the others.

Most of the leaves are gone. They lay like a carpet on the ground and await the first snow.

This is from a little outing last October. This year it is too cold and mostly too grey to fancy such things.

Despite frosty temperatures these autumn leaves are still hanging on!

Autumn leaves brighten these oak trees near Deer Creek in the southern Sierra Nevada, Tulare County, California. The area lies in Giant Sequoia National Monument which is administered by the National Forest.

Autumn on the larger scale can be glorious. I think Autumn on the smaller scale is more poetic. (Best viewed large)

There's a magic in the air when the sun shines on yellow golden leaves, what a great artist is mother nature.

C'e della maggia nell'aria quando il grande artista "madre natura" fa le sue arte.

Though there are still some colored leaves on the trees, many of them are already fell off... The winter season has come to Tokyo.

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments!

I am used to seeing the golden yellow leaves on Quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides), but along the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway in the Clarks Fork Valley the aspen ’s fall folige can be darker, orange to almost red. This is unusual to me but seems rather common in this part of the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming.

An overnight and early morning storm clears out over the Absaroka Mountains in northwestern Wyoming on a beautiful September day.. The peak on the left is Pilot Peak, elevation 11,522 feet (3,512 m), and to the right is Index Peak, elevation 10,709 feet (3,264 m). Geologically, Pilot and Index Peaks are glacial horns that were created as multiple glaciers eroded away the mountain ridge. The classic example is the Matterhorn in the Alps..
