The fact that this orchid knows it's Jan 1st and has done for the past four years encourages me to believe that whoever decided the year had 365 days was right.
One year ago today began what was for me, the trip of a lifetime. Having lived in Roanoke, VA I drove past the east end shops on my way to and from work, and as most of us in the hobby do, I adopted the Norfolk and Western as MY railroad. I visited the VMT before 611 was restored, and attended the first mainline run with the NS Steam Program. When it was announced the 611 was going to Strasburg Rail Road there was some grumblings by the lesser minded, who didn't understand what an opportunity it would be to really capture 611. On a chilly October morning, the big 4-8-4 was at home putting on a spectacular show over farm country, looking and feeling right at home. And so we went on for 20 hours, because when you roll with Pete Lerro you better eat your damn wheaties, but the photos you're able to capture are stunning. I'll share lots of more my Strasburg set, including some of the more popular nighttime ones, but for now, enjoy this photo that brings me so much joy to call "mine".
My new Tomten arrived too late for Christmas but I wanted to take at least one capture of him and so he made it on my Happy New Year photo. :)
The kitties and I thank you for your friendship and for all the inspiring photos and stories you share with us throughout the year. We are looking forward to a new Flickr year with you. May 2019 be a year of joy for you and your families.

A late decision for a quick out and back to the highlands was rewarded with the glorious sight of 37403 & 37685 growling through Glen Garry on a fabulous March day. The crossing of the River Garry was interesting to say the least!

Location is usually fills with people because it's literally in front of the train station. Only few 1-2 minutes gap while less people are around.
